I don't know if Eclipse doesn't eat up RAM like a little kid eats chocolate still, but it's an option (along with Code::Blocks and some other stuff)
Games are annoying to get on Linux for some reason, the deep kernel is getting people to make NT exclusive games!! :(
Though, I am working on a Linux-only game, and can say it probably runs better than any Windows port could ever hope for.
As for everything else, if the source is out there, you can recompile it or port it yourself really.
I *really* want to pressure more Linux (and my own OS specifically designed for games) support. I'm not sure how to get web technologies out there that through design decisions outright do not support Windows (server-side), or are *very* slow for Windows.
Plus I'm not really a networking guy so
i'll admit VS is nice

google already uses Linux (wrongly)
internally they use what's called Goobuntu, an Ubuntu-based distro for their developers
Google still won't open source everything but w/e

wot but i make windows clone because game developers *really* love windows for some reason No DirectX, no DirectInput or ############ no Win32*, no bloat, big monolithic kernel, etc. Otherwise the same as Windows lol * New external API that's not awful instead, which also has a POSIX wrapper! it's not ReactOS, so you need to recompile your stuff... but I mean, it's basically Windows without the patents in the way (at least, that's the intention, not much more than a bootloader and hello world kernel rn) I'm working on writing specs and design stuff and all, so we don't have god awful security like Windows does, and instead do all sorts of black magic to keep user A from even knowing that user B even exists (unless user A is admin), let alone access their files or programs. $ echo "Get slam jammed, kid!" && sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root |

but Linux architecturally is sooooo aweeeesssoommeee
given a lot of the GUIs for linux really suck (i'm looking at you KDE, Cinnamon, and LXDE), a lot of other ones are awesome (GNOME with plugins, i3/bspwm/openbox with some configuration, XFCE, Pantheon, Unity if that's your thing, and some other things, etc.)
Windows is waaayy worse than KDE though, and I consider KDE like the worst you can get
