360 degree Celestial Bodies...
Essentially what a lot of builders on ROBLOX can benefit from is the ability to edit celestial bodies more indepth. For example, instead of the default where the sun "rises" on one side of the game and "sets" in the other, an option could be set where it goes all the way around the skybox instead of only half of it. From here, some developers can set up local scripts to allow the sunrays to keep their "sunrise" or "sunset" colors based on orientation of the player's HumanoidRootPart or Camera angle. It would be also neat to add more than one sun or moon and color them differently in the skybox. Of course, with Global Shadows turned on, this will allow day and night cycles on spherical objects since the dynamic lighting and volumetric shadows have to follow the lighting. It would also help some developers a lot if these suns and moons could be scripted independently to do really cool things based on developer preference.
IE: If I was at this position in my game, Sun 1 is visible, and Sun 2 isn't, simulating independent days and nights.
Another neat addition to the concept above would be the ability to rotate the skybox WITH the sun, instead of it be stationary. This would keep activity rate to a minimum and yet, simulate a more immersive virtual reality where the game actually appears to be moving.
Proximity/Hvll Emitters...
We all know that Particle Emitters are awesome, but are strictly limited to the volume of a part and its selection box. Some players and developers could benefit greatly if they were able to set a proximity "start" and "end" distance on particle emitter spawns, much like how fogstart and fogend work. On top of this, rather than strictly be limited to a part's selection BOX, why not have the particle emitters be specifically spawned on the surface's hvll. A union allows the option to render a collision fidelity on specific surfaces underneath the selection box. So why not add this ability to render particles on any surfaces with collision fidelity as well? |

You must understand that ROBLOX intentionally locks away many features in order to ensure that the gamestate can perform well and prevent players from tampering with coding in the site itself. You can't add multiple suns to the skybox or moons, nor can you actually rotate the Skybox smoothly like I suggested above.
You can't have Particles spawn in specifically between X and Y distance from a part either like a ring without putting dozens or parts into the game, which is both sloppy and makes things harder to manage, albiet by only a little, and even then, it still spawns within a selection box, not the part's actual surface collision. |
