History: Started by the mononymous “Song” and his son, “Rhonin”, the Arcane Vanguard is an order dedicated to protecting mancers across the world, housing themselves in the ruins of the mountain ruins. They have more or less locked themselves away from the rest of the world due to the stigma that mancers are dangerous and volatile; damaging themselves and others around them. This secluded environment allows the Vanguard to properly train mancers without the heightened risk of harming others. They rarely allow non-mancer outsiders to enter, and even more rarely engage in the politics of the realm.
Besides simply protecting mancers, the Vanguard seeks to train them, helping them reach their full potential as the future of the arcane in Trepheon.
The Arcane Vanguard’s education system is not like that of a typical college or school; it is based around the #### formed through a direct ############ between teacher and student. The Compleats - ####### of their specific mancy - are attributed a specially chosen novice mancer who becomes their apprentice, or their “Adjunct”. The Compleat mentors, trains and disciplines their Adjunct to bring about the best of their ability: and to eventually elevate them to the rank of master themselves.
The Compleat and their Adjunct often have a strong bond,##########iendship, due to the many missions and journeys they go on together. It is rare to see an Adjunct travelling without their master, and vice-versa.
Ranks:
Archmancer - These men make up the Vanguard’s ruling circle.
Mancer Ascendant - Ascendants are mancers that have reached their peak potential, some of the oldest and strongest of the Vanguard.
Mancer Compleat - An accomplished mancer currently teaching an adjunct. For one to become a Compleat, they must first find an apprentice and be granted the rank by the Archmancers.
Mancer Renowned - Mancers of great ability, who have passed the training stage of the Adjunct, but have not yet found an apprentice of their own and are waiting to be rewarded with the title of Compleat by the Archmancer council.
Mancer Adjunct - A young mancer apprentice, serving dutifully under a Compleat
Masterless - A Novitiate who has successfully passed through ###### and is searching for a Compleat to take them under their wing. In the interval between learning their mancy and finding a mancer, the Masterless are trained in groups by the Ascendants.
Novitiate- Individuals - generally children and young teens - who have not yet unlocked the secrets of mancy, and are studying the theory in order to prepare themselves for the vi#####rials.
Outsider - Visitors of the Vanguard, or other individuals who are not direct members of the group.
