well yeah but the details and sustainability and all that right like personally I guess 'extreme classical liberalism' is probably accurate to describe me* (because I'm more center-down than minarchists) but mehhhh * elimination of patents, trademarks, and drastically weaken copyright Government has 5 legitimate roles: - Public education - Police and minimal 'kernel' of law. (No murder, do not violate NAP, etc. Piracy is perfectly OK.) - Military protection - Judicial system - Fair and reasonable allocation of raw resources, in such a manner that given any market, a new company can be built within moments to compete in that market provided 'Harbistan' has the raw resources to allow that. Raw resources in the sense of chunks of land which may contain iron ore, or access to the internet or things like that. Anything beyond is unnecessary (ie, mail system, public research, etc), and should only be done with the consent of the public, which should generally be denied in most cases. The inevitable goal of said system is construct a trickle-down laissez-faire system in which the inherent problem of Anarcho-capitalism (megacorporations becoming a new state of itself) are averted, and that each person can, on their own, construct a new company to compete in any market they wish to do so in, provided they have a good enough idea which will sell well in an ideal marketplace, while also averting the primary flaw in Minarchism which is that each person, because they do not have a good enough education, will inherently break trickle-down in favor of bottom-up, as dumb people can be exploited for the gain of corporate management and all. The second trickle-down CAN break, it WILL break. It destroys monopolies by giving the bare minimum to 'protect' original works, being not much more than "I made it first!" sticker. $ echo "Get slam jammed, kid!" && sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root

Pretty close to what I think government should do. - Public education (should be k-12 and at a local level) - Police/Justice system at a local level that protect your rights laid out in the constitution. - Military protection

In an Ancap society there would be companies that would protect your intellectual property.

"In an Ancap society there would be companies that would protect your intellectual property. " Which is a *large* problem with Ancapistan Copyright should only affect for-profit derivative works, apply only to artistic works, and have a term limit of at best 7 years. Patents and trademarks should be purged entirely, because they're in the way of new works, innovation, and a free market. $ echo "Get slam jammed, kid!" && sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root

There is no proof to back your claim. People innovate for profit, profit is what drives a free market. Protecting peoples intellectual property is key for a free market.

Patents with absolute certainty are a real road block in the way of a lassaiz-faire economy. Some examples off the top of my head: Microsoft and the FAT filesystem MP3 and AAC formats Microsoft and the Ribbon UI thing Everything in SCO vs. Linux Microsoft vs Android $ echo "Get slam jammed, kid!" && sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root

If you can show me that all Intellectual property drives up prices insanely. You can convince me. But taxes and regulations are more or a threat to a free market.

Look at the price of Android phones. Because Microsoft is bullying phone manufacturers to abide by their state-sponsored monopoly (claiming 79 patent infringements without actually listing them), phone prices must go up as a result of the government's indirect innovation tax. Compare Android phone prices to similar-specced phones running Ubuntu Mobile, or SymbianOS. Taxes and regulations are a big problem, but intellectual property is a tax on innovation in disguise and a form of government regulation. It's one of the big reasons why Ancapistan would fail: it doesn't purge intellectual property as a whole. It's too authoritarian and I'd actually argue too leftist. When you have a state-sponsored monopoly on an industry, idea, expression, etc., why would you ever innovate, lower prices, and improve on the quality of your products, especially if what your monopoly is on is essential to ordinary life? $ echo "Get slam jammed, kid!" && sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root
