Also some of the games are alright. Not everything about ROBLOX is terrible, just most of it. |

I joined when I was just getting out of elementary school and got my sister to play it, but now I really only log on as a guilty pleasure when I do at all.
The kind of game ROBLOX has become now makes it nearly impossible to have any self-respect at all when you're playing it (in example: try feeling good about being a ROBLOX kid when you're watching this hilarious video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atCA7JWOi_0).
It's also a combination of the things Jascha and rage said too.

I joined almost 5 years ago when things were a lot different. Things have done downhill fast at this point, and it's really sad to see, all things considered. And there are still good things on this website, it's not ALL toxic. The problem is anymore, people only SEE the toxic side. People really don't look at the good side any more.

I play occasionally to enjoy the well-made games, showcases and projects, but in honestly ROBLOX's best games aren't even as good content and development wise as the worst STEAM games, indie XBOX games, or some of its other competition. When I first joined I spent my entire summer playing ####### ### it's just something I visit every once in a while to forum on. I no longer feel any pride, passion (or self-respect like noobill mentioned) playing ROBLOX because the Corporation no longer does running it, and that's partly because there's none to be had. All ROBLOX is now is a quick burn and being subscribed to ROBLOX is kind of like being subscribed to a trashy magazine. The only good thing about ROBLOX right now is the developers. Thank God for them. |

It hurts how right you are |

To remeber the good old childhood days. Also because I have no friends.
Your lack of Robux disturbs me. |

Idk I guess memories. I first played when I was 6 years old in 2008 and I loved it. It wasn't my favorite online game but I played it the most.
Tbh it hasn't aged well. By 00s standards it was really something especially before David passed. So many contests, so many events, so much growth, so many people invested and passionate about the site. By today's standards it's nothing special. That's the corporation's own fault. They know how to run a business (competently) but not how to follow the philosophy that made ROBLOX such a fun site in the first place, and if they still have any passion or love for ROBLOX it isn't showing. They don't innovate, they have their community developer carry their site for them (they don't try to bring in a team to make more professional ROBLOX games, all their games are indie or community made, none of the administrators have done any projects since the late 00s) instead of leading by example, they hold no accountability for their more ambitious projects (no updates on the group system project or the player-made Catalog yet), they don't care about new ideas (S&I is the obvious example; R$ fission and Place-in-the-Gear would revolutionize their site but no one cares), the community is poisoned, the games are a quick burn, their game development has hit a ceiling, their events have flanderized, their involvement has dwindled, their trashy subscription and pricing is designed to exploit hundreds out of their less disciplined customers and they don't care about their reputation or their freemium base. Heck they even expanded to mobile and XBOX before they were ready just so they could bring in enough people so they'd have a larger premium base, let aside it made the freemium and premium sides completely disproportionate and increased their competitors and costs (yes they have bigger numbers but considering the numbers are inflated they aren't bettering the site the app or the console version in any meaningful way other than getting it up and running they aren't ready to be a bigger company). Its only saving grace is that it's community driven and it's Studio; they've gotten some very impressive developers with great work ethics on board with them with the help of their DevEx program and many of the best games will only get better as they go into the final stages of development.
I have a lot of love for some of the games and people on ROBLOX, but none for the site itself or the Corporation running it. Unless some big change happens, I'm gonna simply do what I do now--log on every once in a while to forum and group post (and play some of the good games) and leave within the year. It used to be ROBLOX wasn't a site you could grow out of (the playerbase maybe but not the game itself) but it's 2017 and we haven't progressed at all. OP asked a very good question and thinking about it I'm starting to wonder myself. |

Wow I forgot all about this thread.
imadog has some very good points. The problem with ROBLOX summed up as simply as possible is ROBLOX The Staff, ROBLOX The Players, ROBLOX The Developers, and ROBLOX The Corporation are all separate entities that seem to want different things. ROBLOX got this far by the hard work, ideas, innovation and passion of the first generations of staff and players but now instead of pushing ROBLOX further they just want to cash in.
Now ROBLOX isn't a site you grow with, but grow out of. But it wasn't always like that. |

I have not the slightest idea tbh

I discovered this game through YouTube... in 2011. |

I read about it being dangerous for children. I wanted to see what it even was. I had no clue what Roblox was even though I heard about it years ago. That was four months ago when I joined. I switched accounts after a month to have a better username. At the time i wasn't ready to buy robux. I now spend hours on here. I am not super social, but I like the company. I think the games are fun. |

Ya OP everyone knows current ROBLOX is a toxic shadow of it's former self, and while the fun is hollow I play because there is still fun to be had.
I'm disappointed in what the company has become, but I love how dedicated the developer community is to making great games. Also because of ROBLOX's format some cool games and genres have come out of it (anime games with character creators, Bloxburg: The Sims everyone's wanted where you can truly be your Sim, BrickBronze: a true Pokemon game with fully custom trainers, also ROBLOX is the only game on the internet with murder mystery arcade, rap battles, etc) and it's never too late for a change. They can really bring their Studio to the point where professional quality games can be made using it and they can innovate their business model with systems like Kudos' R$ fission. We're not off the deep end yet. They lost their way but they're still moving forward, they'll get it back. |
