I think that instead of 1,000 robux worth of a name change, it should be free, but you can only change it once a month. Or something along those lines.

That sounds perfectly fine to me, but as you can see by how they've completely cut off access to customization to anyone who doesn't pay money, they're getting a little greedy when it comes to ROBUX, so I think they're probably just going to keep it that way. Support, though.
