more talking about when someone goes on to study something like history, english or a proper arts subject like music or fine art some of those degrees get some stick, so yanno one thing i will certainly say is in those arts circles people talk about "following their passion" as if non-stem has a monopoly on pursuing your dreams people wouldn't study a science at higher level unless they really enjoyed it, and many those people have probably had an undying passion for their subject for as long as they can remember

anything not stem, comp sci, medical, or business related is pretty much useless
Antagonise
#222970525Wednesday, August 02, 2017 7:37 PM GMT

useless in terms of what? money? there's academic institutions for tons of disciplines, and it's perfectly possible to go into academic research in a subject like english literature if your degree is strong enough

STEM degrees should only be the go to degrees for people that aren't talented enough to make it in the world independently

"STEM degrees should only be the go to degrees for people that aren't talented enough to make it in the world independently" what do you mean? succeeding on your own merits without a degree, or getting recognition based on a talent in the arts?

In my opinion(im a 16 year old boy so like not one to take seriously) I believe a STEM degree is more for the employee. If you have the leadership skills already then I fully believe in going for either a cheaper degree or skipping it in general. I also believe if you have the skill in some sort of arts field then it's up to you to take the risk.

from an entrepreneurial pov, stem is necessary to create a product and business is necessary to spin it off and maintain it but imo, it's easier to specialize in creating the product and then learn how to spin it off than do things in reverse
