For some odd reason when I am testing my car in studio in "Play Mode" my car works just as I want it to. However when I leave studio and play my game, my cars are really slow. I have the set speed of my cars at 400 and when in-game they only go 25... As I have said the car does not have any trouble when I am driving the car in studio's test mode. I am not sure if this is a properties problem or maybe the physical car itself.
Thanks,
Wiwinky

Please if anyone has an Idea for me please share it! |

Maybe if you scripted wrong that could be the problem or maybe 25 is the max speed if your doing a basic roblox toutorial car. |

I made the car from scratch and the only scripts in it are and "Unanchor" script and a "Weld Script". |

Could possibly a torque issue, try setting the torque to 1.55, that is the optimum torque I use for all of my vehicles. |

Torque depends on the size of the vehicle as well as the size of the wheels. Big cars or big wheels require more Torque.
You shouldn't ever need to put a speed of 400 in a car otherwise it will probably go out of control. |

I will definitely tamper with the Torque. It could also very well be because of the 400 speed. |

I do not think the Torque is the problem. Right now my wheels are very unstable. Is it possiby because of too thin of a base on the car? Or is it possibly from the 400 speed? |

Is the car in a place where I can have a look?
Or you could just mess with the Speed and Torque values until it works. Remember that Speed is in studs per second, so 400 is pretty dang fast. Try 40 instead. |

I have messed with the Speed and Torque quite a bit... I cannot have my car at 40 speed because it is a high speed Nascar game. If you would like to see the car it is on my profile game right now. It has improved a little bit, instead of going 20-30 speed it goes 130 studs per second. However it still doesn't reach its max of 300 |

Could someone go to my game and look at the car and possibly make a diagnosis...If you spot the problem please comment it on this thread. |

What torque do you have in the VehicleSeat, as well as the Speed?
What Friction do you have on the Wheels and track?
Please put those in the reply so we can help you out.
Are you using Cylinder wheels or Sphere (Ball) wheels? I had some small cylinder tires on my go-karts that would bounce out of control after a ROBLOX update a year or so ago. Try using Spheres for your wheels.
Do you have a script in the car that slows it down if it's running on the grass? I noticed the Nascar car would do 30 on the green area, but 70 on the banked track. There are quite a few solid Parts in the Nascar car as well. Try making those areas hollow instead so it's lighter. |

Torque - 15
Speed - 300
Friction on Wheels - .8
Friction WEIGHT on Wheels - 25 <----- I changed the property to this because the car was wobbly, JUST TO BE CLEAR the car was acting up as it is now long before I ever changed the friction weight...
Density on Wheels - 1
Properties on Grass - ALL DEFAULT
Friction on Track - 1.0. <----------------Might explain why you go faster on track than the grass because the grass has default properties as I said before...
I am using a Sphere for the wheels with a Cylinder mesh. I did this because with wedges for a track you need spheres to be able to drive onto the track... If you know what I mean by that.
I actually used to have hollow parts in my car and it still even then was very slow when it wasn't supposed to be... I only made them none hollow because the car was too light. It was so light that when you took a turn at max speed (In studio of course) it would completely flip on it's side.

Friction actually goes up to 2. Try that. |

WiwinkyJoin Date: 2014-08-16 Post Count: 50 |
Oops I meant to say friction on track was 0.1 not 1... What are you saying I should do? change the friction of the wheels to 2? Or change the friction of the track to 2? Or something else? |
|
ScottiflyJoin Date: 2011-01-30 Post Count: 9180 |
That would explain why the other car slides off the track so easily.
Try raising either one then both. 2 is more friction, your wheels are probably spinning due to the weight of the car.
Just remember, if you use more friction you'll probably need more torque. |

So your saying to increase the friction on the wheels to 2. Then increase the torque to where it would satisfy the wheels?
Or are you saying I should also with increasing the friction on the wheels increase the friction on the track and grass too???
Or are you just saying to do the first paragraph?

I am a little confused. Why do you want me to increase the friction of the car? I feel as if we are getting a little far away from the beginning problem. Which is that for some odd reason my car acts as it should in roblox Studio, but not in ROBLOX. In roblox my car goes very slow. I am just so very confused on why it does this. Is it a glitch with studio? |
|

I don't see why I should have to change any properties on my car. I just really want to know why under the same circumstances does my car go normal speed in Studio but not in ROBLOX. If to change this problem I had to change some properties I would certainly do it. However I don't think that that is the case. I personally think it is a gltich within either studio or ROBLOX. I am not sure if you are trying to help me with fixing this problem or not. I would just really like to clear up some confusion for myself and possibly you.
P.S. Thank you so much for helping me this far! I hope we can finally and very soon get down to the root of this problem. If you are free I would actually like to join you in game so we can talk Robloxian to Robloxian about the problem. Just go to my profile and if you see me playing a game please join me. ;D |

I have a similar issue with running my Steampunk place in Studio. I use a ########### ## my boat to propel it along a track. In Studio it goes about 20 studs then stops, every time. Jumping on it or trying to push it doesn't help. In Game it will happily run all day long around the track. |

Lucky atleast your problem is the other way around. Would you like to join me in-game at my nascar place? Also did you ever find a way to solve your steampunk game problem? |

I didn't, but it works in game so I don't have to worry about it.
What is the friction on the Sprint car wheels? |
|

I am 80% sure that they have a friction of 1.5... I cannot check right now because I am on Android.
