Form # # #### ### Also known as The Way of the Sarlacc, or The Determination Form. Is the most basic of all the forms. The best way to practice is to have several spectated “Friendly Duels”. These attacks aim for the arm with the lightsaber, in an attempt to disarm, or possibly kill the opponent. Form II - Makashi: Also known as The Way of the Ysalamiri, or The Contention Form. Involves precision. Move towards the opponent, and circle around him always attacking with swift strokes, and evading attacks. Form III - Soresu: Also known as the Way of the Mynock, or the Resilience Form. This form is more defensive. Try to parry/block and dodge your opponent’s attacks, and when there is an open spot, lunge to it. But remember to keep yo####u#####i##### Form IV Form IV - Ataru: Also known as the Way of the Hawk-Bat, or The Aggression Form. This form works best with the force, but can be completed without it. Using agility, jump, sprint, leap, etc. around the opponent in a defensive, and offensive way. Confusing the opponent is an objective. Dodge attacks more frequent than blocking them. Jumping over your opponent and swinging your lightsaber down at them is a risky, but damaging move. Form V - Shien/Djem So: Shien despite being “brutish” this form is still practice by the Jedi, as it is an effective method of attack. Form V allowed a Jedi to deflect blaster fire back at an opponent, turning the Jedi's defense into an offensive action. The Djem So variant of Form V was also based on defending with solid blocks and parries, then immediately countering with strong counterattacks and ripostes, and was geared toward, and created for lightsaber to lightsaber combat, but also still reasonably useful for blast deflection. Form VI - Niman: Also known as the Way of the Rancor, the Moderation Form, and the diplomat's form. This form is the least demanding, and can be taught to you if lightsaber dueling isn’t your strength. Force is a nice tool with this form, but again, not necessary. If you are using the force, use your surroundings to gain advantage against your opponent. Fight with swift strokes like Makashi. Form VII - Juyo/Vaapad: Also known as Juyo, the Way of the Vornskr, or the Ferocity Form. The Juyo incarnation of Form VII was described as the most vicious form of lightsaber combat and was said to involve significant internal focus on the part of the user. Vaapad was explained as being a state of mind rather than just a fighting style, allowing the wielder to channel his own inner darkness into the duel, and accept the fury of the opponent. Both forms are forbidden for the Jedi because it crossed within both the dark and light side. Some users may go up to the darkside if not taught well. Which is why both forms are banned from TJO, due to its dark side abilities. Form 0 - Negotiation: This form is more of a calm non-combative way, not really a saber form. Negotiation has to deal with trying to resolve conflict the non-combative way, which is why Jedi should always use form 0 first then any other form while in a conflict.
