is it best to reward the player in the npc script or the gun script?

In the NPC script I'd say. If you reward them client-side, exploiters will be able to abuse that

Well, It wont be client, cause it will be within the Server script within the tool

Both of them would be susceptible to exploitation. It doesn't matter. Also why use a server script inside a tool?
