Technically, it IS because of other threads. If there weren't as many threads being posted, ideas would go down the list at a slower rate. Whenever a new post is made, all other posts go donw the list. Therefore, less posts in a forum = posts fall slower.

There isn't that much spam. I'm from March of '08, BTW, but I'm on an alt. And of course, you can bump that thread. The S&I forums actually move slowly compared to, say, OT. Stop being moronic. Also, what's wrong with posts of hats and gear? Mmm?
