I think ROBLOX should make a new object called a "G-Point". A GP would be a changeable point of gravity in your place.
Your place would have a default GP called "Global G-Point" or something along those lines. If you deleted the Global G-Point you're place would have no gravity.
A normal GP would be placed in your place to make a small point of gravity, an example of a use for this would be in a planet. A GP has set able radius of gravity, and a settable force of gravity. An example, you want to create a moon, but you want it to have low gravity, yet you want it to have a large radius of gravity, you set the level of gravity, and the radius to create it. As you get further away from the object with the GP the gravity gets weaker, even if you set a large radius (unless set to a GGP, in which case you cannot set the radius).
An example of an amazing use for this would be realistic planets. I will attempt to explain:
You remove the default GGP to get zero gravity. Then you create planets of differing sizes, the biggest one (the sun) has an extremely high amount of gravity, and a large radius. You then create planets around that, on the edge of the GP, with their own GP. To simulate orbits, you give the planets a nudge using a script or something, and the ROBLOX physics should, in theory, take it from there, simulating a real solar system. If you were to knock a planet out of orbit then things would get interesting.
This would be an amazing tool for space themed games.
I'm sure I have not talked about all things this needs, and I'm sure I have not talked about all of it's uses, so feel free to add and support.
Tell me what you think. |

Actually, many have attempted and failed. You cannot use the black hole script. Not only that, but when you do it does not work properly, your character bounces and stuff like that.
This would make it so much easier, and it would allow more users to create bigger and better places, even if they cannot script. |

Many have attempted, few have succeeded. Which should be enough encouragement for you to learn how to script. |

I've attempted to learn. I can currently do simple scripts.
Anyway, ROBLOX added vehicle seats, which is much easier to script then this (to my knowledge). Apparently someone has scripted a vehicle seat before they were released also.
I already want to learn to script, simply because I could do amazing things once I learnt. However, I do believe that this is one of those things which should be added, even though it is possible to script.
Did you know that everything ROBLOX adds is scriptable? (99% of it anyways, such as smoke and fire) |

Would it affect unancored objects that you can move? |
|
ZukaroJoin Date: 2009-04-14 Post Count: 3830 |
Yes. GPs effect all objects, as they are the gravity. They do not just affect players. |

sephealJoin Date: 2009-07-20 Post Count: 1663 |
If it affects everything then it would mess up the sever I mean if the sun has the strongest gp then all the other planets would just crash into it if its in the area. You probley didn't mean it would affect all but im just saying what would happen if it did.. |

Read my post... I explain how you have to set things up. Anchored things are not affected, whereas unanchored things are. |

"Yes. GPs effect all objects, as they are the gravity. They do not just affect players."
Is this the post? If it is it says it would affect all objects... |
|
|
Don't get all nit picky on him sepheal. He was responding to your question about unanchored objects...
All objects, as in, all unanchored objects... |

Read my paragraphs... I do my best to explain. I have trouble explaining things, so I did my best... >.> |

Yeah i kinda figured it was all unacoured that would be affected but he didn't say it exactly so I just wanted to make sure. |

Well this idea is pretty nice its either perfect or I just can't figure out anything else that might be a problem so support :P. |

O wait one more question. What does GGP stand for? I know GP is gravity points but whats the double g one stand for? |
|
ZukaroJoin Date: 2009-04-14 Post Count: 3830 |
GGP=Global Gravity Point
As in the default, yet you can set others to have Global Gravity also. |

sephealJoin Date: 2009-07-20 Post Count: 1663 |
Ok so thats the main gravity... but how can you have 2 main gravitys? That kinda confuses me :/. |
|
|
this would be good for space games or even the earth and the moon |

"Ok so thats the main gravity... but how can you have 2 main gravitys? That kinda confuses me :/."
Idk.
Perhaps you can only set one to be the main gravity if you delete the default, as it would be quite pointless to have two main gravity sources. |

for some reason the roblox rules will not let me post my idea of 2 main gravitys.. |
|
sephealJoin Date: 2009-07-20 Post Count: 1663 |
2 main gravitys = 50 50 chance of different gravity per sever. |

my post was late. My last post was responding to your post after mine. :p |

I shortened it up and it worked :D well anyway the more main gravity the more randomness in each different sever. |
