When he was in the woods with his father, they encountered a group of orks and he had to hide in a cave. He ran deep into the cave and encountered a dragon, who, for some reason, did not attack. Alnoth didn't move for a while, fearing that he would startle it and it would attack. Eventually, Alnoth got over his fear and came closer to the dragon, noting that it did not make any movements in his direction. Thinking that maybe he still had a chance to save his father, he climbed onto the dragon, and after it did not try to attack, went in the direction of the orks. The dragon killed most of them, one or two escaping. Alnoth found his father dead, and he still holds a grudge against orks to this day. When Alnoth wandered into his cave, he let him survive because he had a feeling that Alnoth would help break the monotony of constantly guarding his hoard. (Two questions: 1. Am I allowed to have two power sources for one staff? 2. How do spells work? You don't really explain it in the first post.)
