(Just askin'.)
/Ryan/
Now that I had put some space between me and the highwayman, I noticed that I had just been assaulted by a youth, not much over twelve, who appeared to come from a very wel-kept family. The clothes he was wearing, now tattered, burnt, and dirty, would have had great worth when they were in prime condition. The attempt at ferocity on the boy's face just barely masked his apparent fear. "Now, lad, if you put down your sword, I'll put down both of mine. Deal? Then I might be able to help you some." I said, cautiously lowering my swords to the ground as a sign of trust. If the youth DID decide to lunge at me, I could simply use my light magic to gain the upper hand. After a moment of deliberation, the boy put down his sword as well, then quietly appologized, his cheeks flushing as he did so. "I just didn't know what to do. My village was torched, and I don't know how to cook. My friends and I used to play games of Merchants and Highwaymen; I thought the real version would not be mich harder. Could you spare me some bread?" the young boy said, looking up to me pleadingly as he did so. I pretended to be torn over the issue, then threw the teen a small loaf of bread, which he proceeded to devour. "Thank you sir. My name's Clarence, by the way. Clarence Davenport. All my friends used to call me Cal, though." He said almost unrecognizably through the half chewed bread in his mouth.
"Pleased to meet you, Cal. My name is Ryan. I might be able to help you even more, beyond the provision of bread." I offered.
"If you're going to teach me how to make some, then I would need to decline." the youth replied to me sarcastically.
"Far to the contrary. A few miles back there is a refugee group, with several others in a similar predicament as yours. If you want, I could get you there...?"
"Oh, Yes! Thank you!" the boy replied, nodding virgorously.
"All right, then. Climb up." I replied, returning my swords to their sheaths and climbing on my horse with the youth. I didn't feel right about leaving one so young out here alone, so I turned the horse around and headed back to camp.

"Come morning we must move out. We may be able to stop this night but it will not be long before they pick up our trail. Then we will be overwhelmed if we stop. There is an Galvaric outpost five days travel to the east. The Dwarven soldiers there will give us aid." |

Reaching the camp, I stoppped my horse and let the youth off. "Here it is. I'd best be off now; I've got a message to deliver." I started to turn off, then rememberes something, and added "Oh! Give this package to Gerard. You'll find him eventually." I added, tossing a small, cloth-wrapped bundle to the boy, who caught it and nodded to my request. I then turned my horse around and galloped off down the way I came.
/Cal/
I caught Ryan's package, then nodded in aggreement to his request. As he galloped off, I turned and walked into this unfamiliar camp. Apparently, this 'Gerard' was a very popular person. |

"They'll likely have the main road blocked by now but there are some old forester's trails that I used often." |

Jinx nodded and made preparations to move out. He moved much faster on his own, and needed time to think and scout ahead. |

(Earlier yesterday I was working on class for D&D 4.0, that takes a lot of time. Spent 1 1/2 hours and I'm not even half done.) |

(Well, then. Let's get back to RP, shall we?)
/Cal/
I wandered through the camp, walking past all of the other refugees. When one of them asked him what I was doing, I simply replied that I was looking for someone named Gerard. I was pointed towards the middle of the camp, where I saw an older man talking to a younger woman. I walked up to them and stood politely, like I was taught to do. |

"A man named Ryan told me to give this to you." I said, handing Gerard the package. "I'm also looking for some food and a place to stay." I added, still retaining a neutral expression. |

"Then join us. We'll be moving out come morning, be ready by then." I take the package "Thank you for that lad. A question, where do you come from?" |
