In London, the myths and tales were slim. Barely any were believable to people who used common sense, but then and again you would find a person who believes the everyday silly myth.
One of those myths was the tale of Samuel Serverin. As the tale goes, Samuel Serverin was an orphan who went to Goldy Days Orphanage, as his parents died in a mysterious fire when he was three. He has pale white skin, cold deep-blue eyes, a skinny build and green hair that was sure to get you wondering.
Some say the Severins had lived in riches - Some say they were dirty old peasants on the streets. It wasn't to sure about their stand in wealth, but everyone knows that he went to Goldy Days Orphanage.
At Goldy Days, it was said that Samuel did get along very well. He was constantly bullied, and would constantly get into trouble. He wasn't happy or bubbly, and he didn't enjoy sports. Samuel was a "feelingless" young boy. Often sarcastic, his comments, appealing to be rude, often got him into trouble with the Headmaster. He hated sports, and preferred to stay alone in his room, inspecting objects he may have came across or reading.
It was said that one day, Samuel was assigned to clean the Goldy Days back yard with a fellow orphan, Tomph Heth. Tomph was a round, plump and greedy boy that loved to eat. He was also lazy - He was the exact thing that Samuel hated.
The back yard of Goldy Days was out of sight from the whole orphanage. No windows could see it, unless you called a mouse hole a window. Behind the yard was a forest of abnormally large trees. It was said that you could hear the screaming of children in the woods, but this was a myth that went around Goldy Days.
As it tells, Samuel was cleaning. Tomph was simply chewing on gum, ordering Samuel around as he sat on the grass, his overly large shirt ripping when he made contact with the ground. At one point, Samuel was told to have snapped. He grabbed Tomph by his right arm and dragged him into the woods. The last that was heard that day, according to the myth, was the screaming of a young boy which was seemingly being tortured.
The one that heard that? None other than Samuel Serverin.
Ten days had passed since Tomph's disappearance, and police had been investigating for seven days straight. Not a sign had been seen of Tomph - Not a trace. When Samuel was questioned, all he had said :
"I was cleaning the yard. He wandered off into the forest. I warned the boy, but he went on. And he never came back."
As the days went on, more and more children began to disappear. From the week that Tomph had disappeared, in October there had been one thousand children at the orphanage. They had dwindled to nine hundred and seventy five. And, as those days went on, Samuel no longer seemed malnourished and skinny as he has before. He was seeming a bit plump, and none of his old clothes fitted him. Every time he had went outside, assigned to do something with another resident of the orphanage, he was the only one that came back, with a smile on his pale face.
By the time a month had passed, there were nine hundred and twenty five residents at Goldy Days. All had been assigned with Samuel, or as Headmaster Foxx called him, "that Serverin child". The Headmaster was suspicious, and assigned one of his workers to spy on the boy.
December came on, and snow was already falling on the orphanage. The children were allowed to go outside and play in the snow, but were not allowed beyond the Goldy Days gate.
As the story tells it, Samuel was assigned to check on the plants near the forest with a fellow orphan, Nyne Rite. Nyne was a blonde haired girl - Skinny with blue eyes, and an obsession for horses.
Samuel inspected the plants carefully while Nyne sat, talking ever so much about none other than horses. Samuel snapped yet again, and dragged the girl into the forest.
While in the forest, using some rope he had in his pocket, Samuel tied Nyne to a tree. He shoved rope into her mouth so she couldn't speak, and her screams would be muffled. He broke off a large branch on the tree with a sharp edge, and proceeded to drive it into the girl's stomach.
After being satisfied that the girl was dead, Samuel used the branch to spread her stomach open. He began to eat anything he could get. Cannibalism was the only way to go, in his eyes.
"Aha!"
Samuel turned around to see a tall figure. He has rounded glasses, brown hair, and was in a brown suit that anyone would find was a tad too tight for him.
"The headmaster was right! You are the killer!"
Samuel got onto his feet and began to run deeper into the forest. Though he had gotten bigger, he had still managed to maintain his agility. He ran deeper, and deeper, eventually losing the man, Sir Flinch. When he looked at his sight, he was amazed.
A large pond, frozen. It would make a perfect ice skating ring. The light from the sun was being reflected on the ice, shimmering beautifully. In the middle of the lake lay a hole. Who knows why it was there, but Samuel was curious.
He skid on the ice to the hole. He peeped in, and saw something that looked like a goat. When he looked further, he saw what appeared to be man. Peeping in further, Samuel slipped and fell into the hole, just as Sir Flinch found him.
Sir Flinch reported his finding to the Headmaster, shocked. All the Headmaster had to say was :
"...Good for him."
It is reported that, in that hole, a mystical world filled with mythical creatures lay. And when Samuel got in there, he conquered it with nothing but smarts. It is said that the world, Zeft, is in peril, waiting for it's heroes to come.
Of course, it's "all just a myth."
Twenty years passed since the passing of that tale, Goldy Days orphanage passes it as nothing but a tale. Headmaster Foxx and Sir Flinch have long gone, and of course, new teachers and people are there.
But some children are going to find that hole.
And they are going to save it.
