"@Varp: Never noticed that. ROBLOX needs to get a better server network." Definitely. That usually the best solution to lag.

@Varp: So true. Client lags can be solved by individuals, but server lags needs to be improved by ROBLOX.

playerjoin lag won't be reduced by loading on another server. The other server then as to send all the data to the main server, which is the same as taking it directly from the website server. No difference. Just one more server to pay, and to lag.

"-Not enough RAM -Connections interrupted -Slow broadband -Connector problems/speed " -- RAM doesn't affect your connection speed realy. RAM is mainly how much your computer can load, not how fast. Lag is used in reference to video games to describe to the delay (or latency) between an action by a player and the reaction of the game. In distributed applications, lag is often caused by communication latency, which is the time taken for a sent packet of data to be received at the other end. It includes the time to encode the packet for transmission and transmit it, the time for that data to traverse the network equipment between the nodes, and the time to receive and decode the data. This is also known as "one-way latency". A minimum bound on latency is determined by the distance between communicating devices and the speed at which the signal propagates in the circuits. Actual latency is often much higher because of packet processing in networking equipment, and other traffic. "{PLAYERJOIN LAG}" -- A player joining does not cause lag to the server, rather, it causes lag to all. Instead of the server lagging, the players themselves would lag. Since all the players are loading the new players, it lags them, not the server. Even if they had a loading server (even if that's possible), everyone would still have to load the joining players. "I don't have the solution for object insert lag yet, but I will think of it." -- Overclocked 12 core of raw power, my friend.

"RAM doesn't affect your connection speed realy. RAM is mainly how much your computer can load, not how fast." Exactly. If there wasn't enough RAM to load ROBLOX smoothly, there will be lag. "A player joining does not cause lag to the server, rather, it causes lag to all. Instead of the server lagging, the players themselves would lag. Since all the players are loading the new players, it lags them, not the server." Untrue. No matter how fast your connection is or how much RAM you have, it will still lag, because of the crappy server ROBLOX has.

"Exactly. If there wasn't enough RAM to load ROBLOX smoothly, there will be lag." -- You only need 512 MB of RAM to play ROBLOX. How much differs from how fast. "Untrue. No matter how fast your connection is or how much RAM you have, it will still lag, because of the crappy server ROBLOX has." -- If a player joins a server, who is loading the player? All the players are loading player. The server already loaded the player.

"You only need 512 MB of RAM to play ROBLOX. How much differs from how fast." So, yeah. Capacity is fine, then. "If a player joins a server, who is loading the player? All the players are loading player. The server already loaded the player" It doesn't change the fact no matter how enhanced your PC is it will lag.

"It doesn't change the fact no matter how enhanced your PC is it will lag. " -- Not exactly. I could get on my $17,000 Tricaster computer with 12 core i7 overclocked CPU, 4 Nvidia Geforce 9800 GPUs, 12 Gigs of RAM, and 2 solid state HDDs. I doubt I will lag. No matter how good the servers are, Client Side will still have to load them.
RevolutionGG
#40587871Sunday, January 09, 2011 2:10 AM GMT

And do you think average users will afford that? ROBLOX servers aren't good. Client may be so enhanced it can practically load tons of information servers cannot keep with it.
CrunchityMunchity
#40588271Sunday, January 09, 2011 2:15 AM GMT

No matter how many times the servers are upgraded, Client Side still has to load it.
RevolutionGG
#40588360Sunday, January 09, 2011 2:16 AM GMT

So it's Client the individual can upgrade. Server, however, must be upgraded by ROBLOX.

Therefore, a loading server, or whatever you named it, is pointless.

#40588568Sunday, January 09, 2011 2:19 AM GMT

What? I'm suggesting ROBLOX to fix the lag (with a possible solution). They need to upgrade the server. Client can be dealt with individuals. However, individuals can't fix servers.
