I think it depends on the system you are using, if the Graphics setting is set to automatic then it would normally use the best option, to view the graphics option press alt f2 |

I use Direct X on my pc aswell, but on my netbook, it seems to have less lag on OpenGL. |

In ROBLOX DirectX is much better as our latest rendering engine uses it. However overall OpenGL is sometimes considered better due to it's open-source nature. Personally I prefer DirectX. |

I agree |

I get better performance (less lag) with OpenGL than DirectX (Direct3D,) but with OGL (OpenGL) I get a lot graphical errors and artifacts. D3D (Direct3D) is more stable but I get lower performance with it. I'm curious which ShaderModel, DirectX, and OpenGL version Roblox uses. |

What about metal and vulkan? |
|
|
"What about metal and vulkan?"
metal is apple devices exclusive and unless you plan on paying 1k+ for a computer it shouldnt be considered a realistic option |
|

"Vulkan is a low-overhead, cross-platform 3D graphics and compute API. Vulkan targets high-performance realtime 3D graphics applications such as video games and interactive media across all platforms. Compared with OpenGL and Direct3D 11 and like Direct3D 12 and Mantle, Vulkan can offer higher performance and more balanced CPU/GPU usage. Other major differences from Direct3D (prior to version 12) and OpenGL are Vulkan being a considerably lower level API and offering parallel tasking. Vulkan also has the ability to render 2D graphics applications,[11] however it is generally suited for 3D. In addition to its lower CPU usage, Vulkan is also able to better distribute work amongst multiple CPU cores."
I got that off of Wikipedia. I won't have my main gaming tower anymore, and have a laptop with only 32mb of dedicated vram. Due to these limitations, I tested most of the options (dx11, dx9, openGL, no graphics, and Vulkan) and saw that Vulkan was running well. Hope I helped. |

Thanks, now using Vulkan. :D |

Direct3D 9/11 on NVidia and OpenGL/Vulkan on AMD |
|
|
Bennie lmao D3D and DirectX are available on AMD too, Vulkan is open source and is available everywhere.
DirectX 11 Is the best one out there, i recommend you use it if you have a newer graphics card as it will do better in rendering.
Fight for ROBLOX! // ASUS GTX 1070 STRIX / i7 6700k / TridentZ RGB 16GB |

(DirectX 11) Pushes ROBLOX to its limits.
(DirectX 9) For less beefy desktops.
(OpenGL - Vulkan) Recommended for Laptops.
(Metal) Only for Mac computers. |
|
|
TIP: AMD GPUs work best with Vulkan. Varies with NVIDIA. |
