"Perhaps you mean threads?" I would assume so. So many people are content on thinking that threads == cores, when they really aren't.

Oh wait, it says it has 4 cores and 8 processors. :S

And I don't think threads == cores. -_-

>more than 8GB of RAM No. Just no. You'll never use it all unless you do a ton of video encoding or other resource intensive tasks. >Intel doesn't make an 8 core processor. Yes they do, but it's generally not for the consumer market. It's a server quality processor, it also only runs at 2.3GHz If you really want cores, AMD offers 12 cores in a single processor chip. >i7 980x EXTREME Might aswell go with a Xeon 5690, practically the same as the 980, but you can buy a dual soccket motherboard so you can put it another. >Windows RAM limit Windows 7 Home Premuim allows (by operating system), up to 16GB, Win7Pro and up allow up to 192GB of RAM. >huge SSDs No. Just no. You should only really use a SDD for the operating system, and large files such as games that you use often.

I wonder when people will start using 128-bit processors. o.o

Not that microprocessors are my field of expertise, but I doubt we'll see 128bit computers for many years. Maybe portions of the computer will trend towards 128bits, but I don't think we'll have full computers using 128bits for a quite some time.

That's what they were saying for 32-bit computers when everyone only used 16-bit processors.

Well I'm not old enough to know that :L Anyway, we've only had 64 bit desktops for like 9 years. Why go for more so soon ?

#43724490Thursday, March 10, 2011 12:31 AM GMT

Well, 128-bit processors will probably be out in like, 15 - 30 years? "640KB ought to be enough for anybody." 30 years ago. xD

"Idk. That's what it says if you go on Ubuntu >> System Monitor." It thinks your logical cores are processors. Lololol.

Well, At the time I am doing this on the Wii. I have the internet Channel. You can plug a USB Keyboard into the Wii so it wont take forever to type. It's Awesome.

">more than 8GB of RAM No. Just no. You'll never use it all unless you do a ton of video encoding or other resource intensive tasks. " See my post. When you have the freedom that 16GB of RAM grants you, you will rarely see your memory usage below 4GB. I'm almost always over 8GB.

"Both cores go up to 3.00 GHz, So it is about 6 GHZ" You don't add your speeds to get your total speed.
