Any ideas? I'm thinking about a prolouge... I'm not sure though, I sort of want to keep the main character's past secret...

Well, you could just not specify who the prologue is about, and only give a few basic hints, foreshadowing kinda thing. I tend to open up with either a conversation, combat, or a scene that actually falls in the middle of, were it made into its own story, be a separate plot arc.

Oh, pensive moments are also good to start off. They're often even better for introducing the characters' situation.

Well you need to decide wether it's modern or not or start the main character as a mystery sorta like this A kid was standing in a corner. About 4 feet approximately- to be more precise 4 foot 6. He was wearing a black hood...... Something like that you have to start the story making the reader confused and straighten it out in the first chapter. Most likely in a prologue u will have to describe the place time basically what is going on

oz is right. To make a prolouge you have to write about things that will make the player want to know what is going on, so that later you can tell them.

How about start like an action/adventure book: In the middle of an action scene. Narrative: I was blahblahblahblah. Third-person: Name was blahblahblah. Ex: I was running through a grassy clearing with the police on my tail. They thought I was a criminal. Well, of course, you'll just have to ifnd out WHO the villain of the piece is. My name is [INSERT]. I am [INSERT DESCRIPTION HERE]. The police caught up within minutes, when my asthma kicked in. They cuffed me, put me in the back of the police car, and drove me off to the local penitentiary. Like that. Or, you can start with something simple. Describing the main character, and then blahblahblah jump into the story blahblahblah story.

(I don't mean to sound rude, but Kerion's the only one that has given any help so far... Well time to start the story.)
