Well how about this: Scene: an ordinary Neighborhood in Nebraska. A guy one day wakes up, drinks his ordinary coffee and asks Mr. handy to pass to the news channel. The news apparently are talking about received Intel of possible Chinese Nuclear Missiles, warheads and Fat-Mans ready to be launched all over U.S.A., and the military has set a warning to everybody across the U.S. to contact Vault-Tec immediately to receive a seat for the future, AKA Vaults. The man ignores the news and goes to the mail box to see his letters. Personality is already set here that the man doesn't rely on technology advancement too much and doesn't use it in moderation and prefer the old-school. The man looks at the mail and a bunch of bills are sent to the man. With one exceptional letter received from Vault-Tec. the man appears to have received a golden ticket. The reason for the golden ticket is the man is teaching about computers and science as well as mathematics and Vault-Tec is aware of him, and heard his teachings are surpassing any other teacher's teaching skills in town. The man grows suspicious maybe there is a possible WWIII coming up and packs his things immediately just to be sure to be ready before the attack begins. COUNTDOWN: 1 day and 6 hours to nuclear war between U.S. and China. Another character appears. And is part of the Marines of the U.S. forces. The character is a Lieutenant in the U.S. forces and sent to Alaska to fight the Chinese and free Anchorage. The man is sent to begin an assault on the Chinese forces holding Alaska with other 1st Force Recon pathfinders to aid him with directions and heavy assault units on his lead. They seem to have the plan working great, but maybe to great... COUNTDOWN: 1 day and 4 hours to nuclear war. Back to the man in Nebraska. He just finished teaching mathematics to his class and goes back home. Before entering his car he notices an odd supply room next to the school. He wants to investigate it and then finds out that the supply room is actually a staircase. He goes down the staircase and seems to be fascinated because of the computers with Vault-Tec Operating Systems. he approaches a room with a circular blast door, and engineers work on the blast door programming. He then sees the management and asks what's with all that. The man tells him that they are building Vaults to protect the human race from total erase, and they are almost completed with Vault 60. That's what appears on the man's golden ticket. As he believes all of it is true he then decides to get ready with the most he could within 28 hours. COUNTDOWN: 23:50:02 to nuclear war. Operation Anchorage is going great. But in the 20th hour mark the U.S. army found out that this was all a trap to lure them into Alaska and set off the nuclear device. The device was intended to set off at 20:00:00.00 before the nuclear war, and the Intel was received only 10 minutes before the set off. The Marines quickly try to get as far as possible from the nuclear device, but the device had enough TNT to devastate the entire area, and 90% of the army doesn't manage to escape. the 50% of the personnel was vaporized in a second, 30% wounded and died from the wounds and 20% survived the blast but found with radiation sickness once medical attention was received. COUNTDOWN: 6 hours to nuclear war. The teacher has woke up early to get his final bearings done while listening to live news, as the american forces are invading the Chinese missile silos to prevent as much nuclear missiles as possible. 50 rockets out of 100 and 10 Fatmans out of 80 were disarmed and reset co-ordinates to outside of the atmosphere. The man is now ready to go to his Vault. COUNTDOWN: 2 hours to nuclear war. The teacher has almost reached the vault, but apparently the Chinese are attacking all U.S.A. states and the man tried to run away but got severely wounded. Then fell unconscious... 20 days after the nuclear war. The teacher couldn't reach the Vault anymore, but he is lucky to be in the U.S. army medical post. He was told he is lucky that he fell unconscious before the Vault and lucky that a marine picked him up as he was recognized by the marine, and brought back to life. The medical post is another Vault-Tec Vaults but that one Vault was made especially for the army to secure themselves from the fallout. The Vault the teacher was needed to go in, have radiation filter failure and currently the Vault is suffering the effects of the isotopes. The man has now to stay in the Vault for another 3 years to wait for the isotopes to decay, and only then can be released with the other civilians to rebuild. The marine who picked the teacher up was actually one of his students, saying that if it wasn't for him, he and all his class wouldn't be in higher ranks than the other classes from high school, and saved his life because had no way else to thank him, now the teacher fulfilled his job as a teacher at basic and advanced computer lessons at the post, for these 3 years, and every civilian got a gun training class from the army. The civilians were released and found a soon to be town and decided to help with the engineering. I would like to say this is just the back story of the entire thing. The town is called "Genesis" for it was the first town ever built there in the new world. now the reason for the fact it took 3 years for the radiation to decay is because there was none, it was just all speculation there is radiation out there, and the military wanted for the isotopes close-by to drop first before releasing anyone, and luckily, only 50 kilo smoke dropped on Nebraska and nearby, so the place is habitable, but the water is an issue. The place still looks kinda like the capital wasteland is because the place was bombed with regular missiles.
