The main point is that:
Not suggesting undo updates? How about we HATE that update?

This would make it much easier to fake your identity so... No. If spaces were only allowed in the centre of names then it could work.

When spaces,underscores and periods where allowed you couldn't put them at the end or the start of a username that was never a problem.
