He won't read anything else because he hates reading.
Only comics, and only if they're in color, and they have funny animals.
He read this comic called Sidekicks, and now he's going for Missle Mouse.
He can't put them down once he's hooked on them.
So, any suggestions on other books?
(I'ma try some Scrooge McDuck because he fits both criteria.) |

Nah, I wasn't going to mention AKIRA at all. That's manga, which is black and white. From the info you gave us, I'd doubt he'd like manga if it's in dull black and white.
I was recalling that one scene from Marvel's Siege where the Sentry rips Aries in half and all his organs and such just fly off. |

I think that's the only violent scene. I know some violent comics.
The Authority
Alan Moore's Miracleman (ESPECIALLY issue 15, but it's more creepy than violent)
Invincible (in the later issues)
And I'm pretty sure there's more. |
|
|
I positive there's more.
The dark and gritty 90's anti-heroes brang lots of violence to the comic world.
Not all of it was well written, but Micheal Bay proved you don't need good writing to make an entertaining movie. |

Yeah, the 90's wasn't a good year for comics. A lot of comic fans say the 90's was the worst year. Pouches, extremely large guns, shoulder pads, spikes, knee pads, it was popular back then. Superman had a mullet, then he turned electric blue.
But there were some good comics in the 90's, Flex Mentallo, and by the late 90's, they started recuperating. |

Hairy.
if your brother is into comics, etleast let him try a marvel kids comic to try.
He could read FEAR itself one day. |

@mc
dont you just love how he automatically said, nio im not getting him into AKIRA,not yet anyway?its become a common knowledge thing here on the forum, you should be proud
try giving your brother some classics, but start with the ones without story arcs ,because lil kids tend to dislike those, mainly because it becomes a lil to much like a soap opera or a drama for them later on normally, Id suggest some simpsons for the comedy thing, but that might not be apropreate for him quite yet[really just saying that to save my self a lawsuit from you parents, its totally fine, most violence/swearing or other such things are fine for a young kid, provided they have the needed 3 brain cells and a lil thing call intelligence to realize you dont do/say those things in real life normally, now if your cornerd by a psychopath, drop kicking thems A-ok,but when its a kid on the play ground asking if he can borrow your crayon, not so much, trust me,I know these thing]as for animals, poor kids out of luck, everythings owned by disney this days and is "educational[yeah right, because 1stgraders need to be told what 4+4=]"or is totally disgusting by MY standards, and Im not botherd by much myself, but what Mcado suggested should work, provided its one of the older ones you get him..... |

oh wait is scrooge mcduck you need to get the olderones on srry |

I have two goals here:
1. Get him to read Calvin and Hobbes
2. Have him want to read Watchmen by 15 or sooner.

Highly underrated medium with so much potential. |

And he'd also kidnap some 10 year old and forcibly train him into being his sidekick.
True story. |
