Kinda obvious. Tons of people get scanned. This shouldn't be too hard, all there is are a few spaces to type, a go button, and you can see what the other person types. All you have to do is select your tool, the other person selects their tool, and the go button lights up. Then both press it and trade be done.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Telamon once sent a notification about a Trading System, but it was months ago so probably he forgot he was doing it.
