The ships changed course slightly, heading straight for the same system where X-11 was positioned.

The Pods followed them.

X-11 kept his guard. He made a mental note to add filters to his suit.

The convoy continued on its way, still heading for the system. None were Stingray-Landers, so only the shuttles could land on planets. Relatively speaking, they weren't far off now.

Some Pods took off on the planet, heading straight for the convoy. X-11 could see them leaving.

X-11 thought they were going to get reinforcements. He prepared for a Vazarkan storm.

Most of the Vazarkans were gone. A Harvester drifted peacefully towards X-11, making whale-like noises.

X-11 examined the Harvester.

It appeared to be floating. It had no neck, and a single 'eye' on the front of its 'head'. It had tiny tentacles sticking out from the bottom of its body, and a long opening going along its stomach. The tentacles were picking up particles of moss growing on the ground and putting them into the opening.

X-11 decided that it meant no harm. If it attempted to eat his suit though, he would stab it to death.

(Not too late.) The convoy entered the system, and the three Stingrays engaged their Pulse Drivers whilst disengaging their hyperdrives. They headed for the planet at sub-light speeds.

The Harvester moved over to X-11. It moved its antennae around, and continued Harvesting. Usually, the Harvester would have used its sheer mass to knock him to the ground and rip his face off. This one seemed different, though. All the Haikovans in the fleet would hear a loud rumbling, then a screeching. "HOW DARE YOU ENTER MY DOMAIN?" The Vazarkan Hivemind shouted into the minds of the HSD crewmen. "TURN BACK NOW, OR WE WILL FEAST."

The Harvester continued to scoop up the moss. A second Harvester appeared, heading straight towards X-11. The original Harvester just continued its task.

The lead ship's MC turned to his pilot. He then shrugged. The convoy continued into the system. The vessels began running scans of the planets. Meanwhile, at HSD Ground Control, science boffins were theorising about a new, faster propulsion system. One that could, perhaps, utilise a new dimension, one closely synchronised with this one, but so much smaller. Such a dimension, if its walls were thin and easy to break through, could provide a huge speed jump over the conventional Pulse Drivers or provide a FTL drive that would be less likely to explode than Hyperdrives.

(*less likely to fail Hyperdrives don't usually explode.)
