If I knew the answer to this question I'd be a lot richer.

I mean, what causes an industrial revolution, and what causes the switch to services and hi-tech manufacturing?

British Industrial revolution, read. You'd probably need an exploitable thing that is unique about the country to have an industrial revolution.

I understand what the industrial revolution was, but I don't see why every country isn't industrialised. So what does a country need other than some industrial item to industrialise?

AND read up on American industrial revolution. Advancements in tech lead to advancements in everything else.

Industrialization just happens naturally. There is no formula to make it happen.

I don't know, something, something that you can use to make a commodity more... well... industrialised... Okay, like Britain, Britain had it's empire and a rich upper class, which have interests in making stuff cheaper. They utilise someone who has a creative mind, and viola! You have new technological prospects. Build big Factories and the Farms will move to the cities for jobs in the new industrial age.

But what does it need? Because it obviously needs something, or else every country would be industrialised.

An exploitable commodity, probably a fuel of some kind, and some form of power and business interest in implementing the technology.

I understand that now. But whats with the services and skyscrapers and shizz?

Well what about the Skyscrapers to start with?

They're office spaces, why do we need office spaces when we could be doing more profitable industry?

You don't need anything to become industrialized. The tiny island of Singapore has no farmland and no natural resources, but it's one of the biggest economies in the world per capita.

Admin with big companies need to be huge to make sure they are profitable.

"You don't need anything to become industrialized. The tiny island of Singapore has no farmland and no natural resources, but it's one of the biggest economies in the world per capita." Singapore's economy is fed by its Ports.

Every country has access to ports, even if they're landlocked.

America's industrial revolution happened because it used neo-slavery on immigrants and stole British technology. Lolwin. German industrialization came because they needed more cannons to kill the French with.

So why service industries?
