No it doesn't.....
It's idiots spamming "anti-lag" scripts that causes lag. |
|
Hare8901Join Date: 2008-04-30 Post Count: 14463 |
*sigh* it is. I had 20,000 bricks and no antilag and it lagged everything. |

faIcohJoin Date: 2008-07-10 Post Count: 11923 |
No one actualy NEEDS 20,000 bricks.
Also, smart mouthing will get you nowhere.
It could also be your own PC lagging. |

Firstly your computer lags not the bricks its all in the spacing of the bricks if theres 3000 bricks in a house thats sure to be lag cuz your computer tries to render every brick you should see. So if theres 10k bricks spaced like islands, planets, and other stuff it wont lag because the other 9k bricks that are far away will fade and wont be rendered. Thats why it says to build things from big bricks rather than small ones (and lots of em) |

Just to point you in the right direction, every brick is made of only 12 polygons.
3,000 bricks x 12 polygons = 36,000 polygons.
I'll be completly honest, that is virtualy nothing.
It wouldn't lag at that much.
But still, I couldn't say you didn't understand it XD
Ohh, also, Hare8901.....
How am I saying anything mean? |

No, infact, you implemented what you thought it was.
I have no problem with that.
Also, as I've told you....
3,000 bricks is nothing.
That translates, as I've also said, to about 36,000 polygons. AKA, nothing.
I would only worry when it gets to be around 1,000,000,000 polygons.

Dude im kinda puzzled did you forget the other polys that make up the studs on the top of each block ?
Or have i been decieved all the time and it was only a decal
Also i only tried to explain to hare cuz he doesn't even understand what a poly is
Dont forget that roblox since it isnt made by huge groups of highly ranked and succesive ppl of coding it isnt that efficent

Um,you do act like a know-it-all WeAse1 but thats why we love you ;P.
Anyways,it has little problem with how many bricks in your place you could have 1000000k(100 million) bricks in there and would cause little lag.The game is not like others where you need a good graphics card.Lag is also cause by faulty scripting. |

I agree with Xtremer. Its true, now that he mentions it! And there shouldn't be a max of bricks, thats stupid! And anti-lag scripts don't work, they are just made up myths according to ROBLOX |
|
|
the wiki suggest using under 2'000 bricks.... |
|
|
There is no NEED for a maximum number of bricks. If you have too many bricks, then the lag will be quite noticable. You will probably not even want to put very many bricks due to lag. What is the point of a maximum? |
|
|
i can hanndle about 20000 Brick with little lag in solo HOWEVER online is a nightmare |
|
|
well i think even though it says to use under 2000 bricks i dont think you should have a maximum amount of brick that you can use that would make the games less creative (just an opinion lol) O_O |
|
|
I put a 4x4x4 brick every 4,000 studs. I put 4,000,000 of them. Even if theres 4,000,000 Bricks only 1-2 are shown in your view. witch creates 0 lag.
Lots of Bricks close: lag
Lots of bricks far away : No to little lag |
|

Dude i just told that in the beginning and what you said is total gibberish |

Want a brick limit?
GO TO BLOCK LAND!!! |

People, I'm trying to get this straight.
The most LIKELY cause of online lag is the overuse of server RAM.
They almost definatly only have about 8Gb, which will cache about 10,000 places before having to slow down the transfer of data between the server running and the main server.
When it slows down that data transfer, it causes lag.
That's my thought. |

I've noticed sometimes that if you have very litte bricks it lags like heck but if you have more it doesnt lag |
|
|
ok, first of all, there is no such thing as the bug we call "lag"
this "lag" is what happens when your procceser is trying to render 100's or 1,000's of objects all at the same time. so, basicly, if you have a hyper-advanced proccesor your place could have severaly million bricks and there wouldnt be any lag. also, spread your bricks and buildings out, like someone already said. if you do that, your proccesor wont have to render all of the bricks at the sae time. an "anti-lag" script basicly cuts your vision so you proccesor isnt rendering as many bricks. some tips to keep lag low:
spread the bricks out.
dont use huge amounts of bricks. when building something, like a wall, instead of using hundreds of small bricks just use a few big bricks
use anti lag scripts. just dont use to much, or anyone getting on your place wont be able to see anything. |
