Desperate for an RP... Main detail: A town [Probably historic, or the like] that sits upon a small portion of floating land that hovers above the clouds... So, I need some sort of conflict, the antagonists who cause this/these conflict(s), a time period, annnd... a name for the town/land :3 ~Ideas?~

Hmm, well guess what. I've got a setting already in existence like this. I can help you a lot. Let me dig up my old notes.

I'd live an Rp that takes place in a colonial settings. you never see those. Possibly a villain who (wears a top hat) is trying to use a giant crystal that powers the islands allowing them to float, to power some kind of giant robot of his (which looks like stone and is covered in moss) to conquer the world? I like that idea

@Macaw, So.. He uses a crystal to keep the island afloat, but to also animate a giant? :3 How about, instead of a robot, it could be a stone golem...? :D

There are never villains with top hats in RPs!

Alright, good villains I've got for a fantasy setting Demons Linnorms Opposing factions Lycanthropes (D&D style not twilight style) Undead of any kind Dragons (use multiple varieties) Gnomes Mobile carnivorous plantlife Any combination of the above Many other things.

Is this villain a wizard? Perhaps, a set of caverns lie beneath the town that sits upon the large chunk of floating land, and the crystal is hidden within these caverns... And, errr.... Wait... Is this villain plotting to destroy the town, or...?

(*le gasp) The dragon thing ignited an idea, how about these islands are inhabited by two races, people and dragonoids! (Dragonkin if you prefer D&D terms) and the races are more technically advanced than the earthern poeple (forget the colonial) and create many types of machines, based on the crystal that powers these islands. And that the crystals can be mined below the surface of the earth, and airships travel up and down from the mines, but only the one floating the islands is that size, and that power.

So, a steampunk RP...? ._. I'm not too good with those...

Oh, he doesn't have any regards for the town, he isn't out to hurt innocents, he is just searching for power. What kingdom would he rule if everyone was dead? (or a lot of them)

(i keep on getting lateposts :P) Not exactly steampunk with the brass and bolts, steam and such. I'm thinking more of lighthearted just plain out of this world RP.

Two questions: 1) What two races are inhabiting the floating islands? 2) What would the design of the towns be...?
macaw5
#57089969Friday, October 28, 2011 2:27 AM GMT

i would say humans and what I said before, dragonoids. Town design, hmm, possibly around rivers that flow off of the island making giant waterfalls, with springs generating water from seemingly nowhere. A giant town square, with an enormous fountain in the middle, then buildings dotting the landscape.

Are these buildings designed to look like a modern day city, or historical city...?

I'd like it if they looked old timey, a nice homely feel to them (appear simple, but be very advanced, with water wheels and windmills) Probably colonial style buildings. again, these are all ideas being tossed around.

This is eerily similar to my universe. Everything except the dragon-like humanoids feels like a complete mirror or Alamir. *shifts eyes suspiciously*

#57090699Friday, October 28, 2011 2:40 AM GMT

What I have pictured is entirely different that Alamir, there are giant golems and a giant crystal tether? mostly unlikely. Besides, just because an idea is similar doesn't mean it's a ripoff. Besides, I haven't heard of Alamir until now. Now, it you excuse me i gotta sleep now.

I've never accused you of "ripping off" my universe. The last line was a joke. In fact, being a public domain universe, sharing it is rather encouraged. The crystals do float the islands in my universe, and the Foundation (main antagonists) has access to extremely advanced, magic -like technology. (the crystals are a naturally occurring crystalline superconductors, which levitate under the presence of a strong magnetic field) Stone golems are definitely probable, as they are simply disguised technology (think robots) controlled by the Foundation to further cement their hold on the world. G'night.
