Alot of the countries involved lost their trust and friendships they had with eachother.

Actually, the USSR collapsed, that was pretty much a win for the US considering that there was no literal fighting, unless you consider the conflicts happening during the middle east at the time, being that it the US and USSR fighting each other using proxies. |

Not a win really. The US didn't destroy the USSR - the USSR destroyed itself through corruption and over-spending. |

The problems the US is facing today are almost exactly the same as the problems that the USSR had in the 1980s, leading to its collapse. |

Except we don't have our sattelites revolting against us, nor do we have the threat of a military backed coup, nor are we actively involved in any arms races. |

I wouldnt say US lost the cold war, as the situation defused (pretty) peacefully. |
