The subject explains what I need help on. So basically, how can I reduce my ping value or prevent my ping from spiking? This situation commonly occurs and combat and tycoon games, negatively granting more chances on earning wipeouts or have the ability to rarely do or/and see action in-game at all.

The amount of processes you have running won't effect your ping, in anyway. It will only change how fast the game will run on your computer. To get a better ping (a.k.a. connection speed) you need to shut off all programs using the internet. Signing off of messengers, such as XFire, AIM, etc... Also, close all of your internet browsers, like FireFox or Internet Explorer. One of the best things you can do however, turn off all other computers in the house. It will help. Please note, the lower the ping number, the better your connection. Anything under a 125 ping is good. It also depends on how close you are to the gaming server. Example: Most gaming servers are in Chicago. The closer you live to Chicago, the better your ping will be. Hope this helps.
