Russia's army sucks anyways.
Most of their army uses 1970s tech.
They have 900 tanks of equivelent tech to the M1A1 Abrams, which the US has 8000 of. They have no real blue water navy. Their air force is again, mostly oudated, but in better shape then the army.
The US also has more modern combat experience, and it's army is better trained.
And you're out of your mind if you think Georgia is going to sit by and watch, especially since they're trying to join NATO.

If Russia ever go to war with the USA it would be through nuclear means, resulting in the complete destruction of both sides and the entire world - please don't make me explain M.A.D. again. Two established nuclear powers will never go to war with eachother through conventional means, it's just strategically impossible so please, stop dreaming. |

Am I the only one here who understands that Russia is a federation of states that can actually refuse to go to war with Moscow here? I mean, like seriously. This changes any concepts you have on a massive Russian invasion. Any unreasonable Russian attack would have so much infighting in the various districts of Russia. |

The US Navy and US Air Force would demolish Russia.
We have 11 aircraft carriers ( More currently being built ), which is more than any other country in the world, since most only have 2.
We have 18 Ohio class subs
14 nuclear-powered SSBNs (fleet ballistic missile submarines (FBM)), each armed with up to 24 Trident II SLBMs
Four nuclear-powered SSGNs (cruise missile submarines), each capable of carrying 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles with either conventional or nuclear warheads, plus a complement of Harpoon missiles to be fired through their torpedo tubes
And that's not even all our subs. We also have some Virginia class as well. If I'm not mistaken, we have 69 active subs. All of our aircraft carriers combined have more aircraft one them then ever other country's aircraft carriers combined. We also have the F-22, currently the most advanced fighter jet there is.
The US has the ability to take out a whole country at any point in time, due to roving strike groups and multiple joint-national bases around the world. Neither Russia nor China have the capability to invade and occupy the US. To properly invade and hold ground, you need to establish supply lines. And to do that at the distances we're talking here, that requires aircraft carriers. The US has 11 carrier groups, China has 1, and Russia has 1. They do not want a naval battle with the US.
Some little facts I know from living around some pretty prestigious military personnel.
1. The US makes up 2/3 of all NATO forces.
2. The US spends 10x more on its military research and production than any other country.
3. If the US were to cut its Air Force in half, it'd still be the most powerful in the world.
Fact: The USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Group has enough firepower at their disposal to level half the Middle East.
So:
11 Carrier Battle Groups
The largest Air Force on the planet with the ability to strike anyplace
Not the largest Army just the best trained and staffed by the most educated.
The largest Marine Force on the planet with Amphibious Assault ships AKA "Light Carriers" and Troop Landing "Dock" ships
A Coast Guard that is large enough to cover US waters and many overseas deployments as well
