~Raykian~
"I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that."
~Igneous~
I raise an eyebrow. "And I'm the childish one?" |
Gunther:
"I am simply shocked that it occured, nothing more childish than that."
Selene:
I groan, grimacing as I turn a tight corner and down into a foundry, "I know you didn't, just...wish you could control it." |
~Raykian~
"What happens if they catch us?" |
Selene:
"Best not to think about it, you'll probably be taken back to whatever laboratory you came from and I'll either be captured or forced underground." |
~Raykian~
My eyes widen. "Underground! One in one thousand Saoritin, Miss Selene! Find a tunnel!" I smile wide. |
Selene:
"Wrong underground, and it's a nice idea but the tunnels here tend to have only one entrance."
I drop down almost to the level of the foundry's paths, darting between walkways and transporter rails.
Svek:
"So Captain, you have your men chasing which of the immortal women?" |
~Igneous~
I groan. "That's right. There are two of them. I honestly have no idea which it is. I'm merely hoping that it is the captain and the experiment. But where is the second? Would she be with them?"
~Raykian~
I slump back, sighing. "Dangit. The one time that the old curse could've come in handy. How do we lose the gunships?" |
Svek:
"I doubt it, by the sounds of the AI's speech they're used to surviving; and that means we'll have lost her unless you want to attract the planet's authorities by burning everything in a several league's wide radius."
Selene:
"Luck, and some really heavy traffic or something would be nice." |
~Igneous~
I shake my head. "I would rather have less of the media and government intelligence agencies knowing of this. A war is not what we need at this moment."
~Raykian~
"At least they can't fire on us," I say. "They can't risk harming civilians." |
Svek tuts, "You're starting to get boring, what happened to reliving the joys of battle?"
Selene turns a sharp corner, trying to avoid the collapsing walkway above and some debris catches the engine, sending them down. She turns, plucks Raykian out of her seat and curls around him protectively. "Pray to your gods child, you might start needing them now." |
~Raykian~
"Is now the time to mention I don't have any?"
The pilot of one of the gunships smiles for a moment at his luck, but then he looks on in horror. They might be killed! He races down towards the impending wreckage. |
Selene draws her gunblade, fires at the remainder of the walkway still hanging and it drops, they crash into it and slow before reaching a fatal speed.
Beginning to roll off it, and fearing the impact, Selene grabs out a twisted pole; a pole with no nearby handholds...at least, not any she could use with no free hands.
"Should've believed in those gods youngling, may've come in handy." |
The gunboats soon reach them, firing out grappling hooks into the side of the vehicle and flying at a gentle incline to reduce their speed. |
Selene:
"Well come on then! I can't exactly hang around all day, for want of a better phrase!" |
One of the pilots glares through a window at the pirate captain, turning around and flying the vehicle closer to the field and the Revenge.
~Raykian~
I chuckle. "They don't like you." |
Selene:
"Who'd have guessed. I'd jump if they flew any lower, it's a pity I'd survive the fall and you probably wouldn't." |
~Igneous~
Soon, the ships land not far from the Revenge. Several soldiers heft rifles and surround the pirate vehicle. I stride to the front of speeder, my pistol drawn. "Selene! Now, I know your name to be such. Why do we not chat? Please, exit."
~Raykian~
My eyes widen. "Can I use a swear word, or should I wait a few years?" |
Selene:
"No child, swear-words are only used by those not able to use quick wit as a means of insulting another."
She steps from the craft, Raykian still in her arms.
"I will chat without guns...and if you can provide me with something to drink as well." |
~Igneous~
I bark out a laugh. "If what I hear is true, then I doubt anyone in the vicinity except your crew would provide the proper taste." |
Selene:
"Are you sure you don't want to oblige? It's not fatal...and I do have quite the soft pair of lips." |
~Igneous~
I simply point my laser pistol at her. "I refuse to order any member of my crew to be put in such a position against his or her will. Even then, what reason do I have to trust you? No. You will hunger for the present. First, I would appreciate if you hand over the child." |
Selene:
"How valuble is this child? In the time it takes for you to shoot me I could snap his neck. Or it is something that doesn't require him to be alive to be valuble?" |
~Igneous~
I snarl. "If you touch him..."
~Raykian~
My jaw drops. "What are you doing?!" |
Selene:
"If I touch him...then you'll kill me. So...apart from the fact that I could go all night without a rest, and I'm a damned sight better looking than your Decanus, what is it that you'd keep me alive for?" |
Mahja stiffens. "What the- ? I am far bet- I am far more attra- I..." She is certainly infuriated.
~Igneous~
I sigh. "Come, now, you've already made such a mess of things. If you surrender yourself and the child, then I give you my word that you will not die by the hand of myself or my crew."
