Darn doesn't have the same feeling. And it is still not as friendly to the side against this idea. Because I KNOW someone is going to slip and say Damn instead of Darn when ever the situation gets to the point of them using the word.

So.. what I'm getting is: 1. Other kids should be offended because you can't say "Darn" 2. Other kids should be offended because someone is gonna slip up? !Dream Crusher Strikes Again:3

Not what I was saying. What I'm saying is this: A players language should not be limited any more than it already is, and the person who makes the mistake of saying Damn instead of Darn will be offended and irritated when he or she gets a 3-day ban for a minor mistake.

So your argument is A word that offends people shouldn't be put in the filter... because your language shouldn't be limited? Well..I'd think the fact that you have virtually no rights on this site and the fact that it offends people is enough to "limit" ONE SINGLE word.. -- Another thing I'm getting that. People are gonna break the rules and are gonna be angry because they're being punished for breaking the rules? !Dream Crusher Strikes Again:3

Well D*mn isn't a AWFUL word. (Their are much worse words...) However, it is not the best thing to say. I really think that everybody should respect each others opinions & religions. I do not understand why people can't say dang instead. So i'm not sure if d*mn should be allowed, or not.

@Watevs: people are going to be angry that they get banned for something that they didn't get banned for beforehand.

@Watevs The problem is that we can make ANYTHING offensive and damn isn't even offensive... except to those who haven't studied it at all, or think of the word's meaning and go "damn is offensive, ban it". I haven't seen any problems up to now with the word when it is said on ROBLOX.

#68060244Monday, May 14, 2012 8:42 PM GMT

Agreed. Now, I dont mind - but some other children/teenagers/adults do. And it effects ROBLOX because kids could start saying "D*mn" lots, and their parents can and will see.

#68060393Monday, May 14, 2012 8:45 PM GMT

@Court I disagree. The only reason a "curse" word ever gives satisfaction, and will then be put into our speech permanantly, is when it's tabooed.

DAMN RELIGION! See?! I HAD to use damn now. This stupid religion war is messing up the forum! This is like a double thread now! Personally, I think they should fix ROBLOX bugs rather than banning a word that's not even offensive. Do you think admins really look at this forums? NO!

#68063972Monday, May 14, 2012 9:34 PM GMT

@Court But if ROBLOX tabooes it it makes people want to say it, either way kids are going to swear either way - banning it will make it happen more(not in ROBLOX nessesarily, but in real life).

Also, if damn gets banned, people are going to say DAMNN or dmn or d4mn or things like that. It's useless. P.S: Damn floodcheck.

@Jacob. Your argument is that people are gonna be angry they broke the rules.. Which isn't really a valid point. If damn goes into the filter which I doubt it will, then the rules will be update. And all those who are unable to substitute damn with "darn" will just have to pay the price.. -- @Wag "The problem is that we can make ANYTHING offensive and damn isn't even offensive..." That is not my point at all. My point, as I already said, is that people are going to be irritated with the fact that they now get banned for something they did countless times before without getting banned. They will get irritated with the addition of a new rule that is pointed not at the general society, but at them specifically. Leaving it to seem like they are being weeded out from the general population and isolated.

I agree that the word "d*mn" shouldn't be allowed on Roblox, because there are many people who may find it offensive or kids below the age of maybe even 8 could be playing. But, it is just a word. And nowadays people just use it to express anger without completely freaking out. Still, I support this.

-- "My point, as I already said, is that people are going to be irritated with the fact that they now get banned for something they did countless times before without getting banned." The same argument can easily be put against you, people are upset with the current lack-of-rule against damn. Why should Roblox favour you, though? -- "They will get irritated with the addition of a new rule that is pointed not at the general society, but at them specifically." New rules are for the general society. Whether or not you're the only ones breaking them. -- "Leaving it to seem like they are being weeded out from the general population and isolated." Because Roblox banned 1 word? All of a sundae we are making people 'isolated' and 'weeded out'. I'm sorry, but this is nonsense. -- !Dream Crusher Strikes Again:3

No, it is not nonsense. They would be weeding out and isolating those members who use it as part of their normal vocabulary and who see nothing wrong with the word being used. Simply because they use it as part of their normal vocabulary and see nothing wrong with it, if this got added they would get a ban for speaking "normally". In the long run, it could honestly result in the loss of members and/or BC members simply due to one stupid update. That's just how most humans work, we like to have as much freedom as possible, even more so in how we speak. And when we don't like something, most of us now-a-days simply drop it and leave rather than try to change it. Even more so on the internet.
