i’m going to have to agree with nights, tai. i think some people could use no sugar-coating on opinions. though it does irk me that his first post was just essentially ‘ew sterotypical’ and waited for someone to ask him why.

But Giraffe. His opinions are so discouraging. Judging by his previous posts on other threads, his discouraging opinions are intentional, which I, personally, consider trolling. He can at least be more optimistic, and offer her some advice. "You should give up on writing" is in no way optimistic. It's discouraging, and it could have been said in a more civilized manner, which is why I consider it trolling. I know Nights is capable of sounding politer than he is now.

I am sorry, when someone is in a group such as the 'Writers of Tomorrow', I will go after terrible threads by them. On another hand, I never coat my opinions with anything.

Is it really that much of a concern to you to spoil her hopes? Hope is a motivator. Discouragement is not. She may not be a writer tomorrow, or the following day for that matter, but that does not doubt that she will ever become one. I just ask that you voice your opinions in a politer manner, as to avoid any discouragement or doubt hinting in your opinions. Even "Your stories could use some editing" is politer than something as afflicting as "you should stop writing."

Well, he does have a point. Giving constructive criticism is better than boot licking. If you do nothing but praise someone, they will not improve. I will consider joining your thread, though.

He didn't exactly give constructive criticism though. I am okay when people give constructive criticism and don't try to crush my dreams T_T And okay.
