I nodded, glancing towards one of the windows. I hadn't noticed it getting late, due to the orbs of light that hovered near the ceiling of every room. "It'll all work out eventually." I said, smiling tentatively. I wasn't sure whether I was talking about the eventual war or his relationship with Vlad. |

I knock on Serena's door, my book that I enjoy so much under my arm. I am now wearing a full-face mask, which is grinning stupidly. I made it myself, and put it on whenever I feel harassed. |

"I don't think many people come out of the Academy without making friends, it just depends on whether they admit it or not. If we were on our own in here... We'd all go crazy." I smiled, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "Besides, we've got another four years before any of us have to worry about pretending to be emotionless."
'And by then we'll probably be on the brink of war.' I thought, but didn't let it show on my face. |

"We convince people to leave. The rest of Diot aren't under as much as a lock-down as we are. If we get enough people, we can get out of Melock. Try and get into Tenney, Temur or Chestibor. They're neutral. They wouldn't hand us over." I spoke slowly, thinking everything through. "If we can get out of Melock, that is. And if we are pawns, then who said we had to play their game?" |

"You'd think so, but in History people have done the same thing. Diot, Yurian and Manoa signed a pact promising to respect Tenney, Temur and Chestibor's wishes of aschewing violence. They haven't broken it yet - and one of the people who migrated was a Prince of Yurian." I paused, tugging thoughtfully on the end of my plait. "I suppose it might be different if a large number went... But Melock isn't that big, and on entry into Tenney, some could stay and others move on so that we're spread evenly." |
