Graphics Problem

I just downloaded and installed this game, and when I joined a server, I noticed that everything was really bright. I messed with my video settings, but nothing changed. OS: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 1.8GhZ RAM: 256MB Video Card: VIA/S3G KM400/KN400 (Integrated) VRAM: 32MB Resolution: 1024X768 Color: 32 Bit If anybody could help me with this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

Diaperzoo - we're looking into this now. In the meantime, you could check to see if you have latest drivers for your card. We have tested with many machines at ROBLOX central but haven't come across a VIA integrated GPU. Thanks! Builderman

Hey, it looks as though you are running in full screen mode in that screenshot. I would be curious to know if you get the same result running in windowed mode? Since you are running on an integrated gfx chip, I suspect some weirdness between our game which wants to run in 32 bit color mode and your chip which may want to run at 16bpp color depth. Are your Windows graphics settings (Control Panel -> Display -> Settings) set to Medium (16 bit) or High (32 bit) color quality? You may have a card that runs in 555 16 bit mode instead of 565 - I have never encountered one but I know that they exist. If this is the case, it could explain why all your colors are shifted.

I've looked through the VIA web site many times. I installed a driver pack, but it may have been for a different motherboard. (Their site is fairly hard to navigate.) I had to do a system restore because it screwed up my computer's graphics. So I think I've got the only driver for this motherboard. I haven't restarted my computer yet, but I don't think it will change anything. I'll try anyways.

VIA graphics chips are completely scrwey and tend to stray away from standards (e.g., the 555 over 565 16bpp modes). If you havn't already, switch to 32-bit color mode ( Display Properties->Settings ). Windows XP usually sets itself to automatically run in 32-Bit mode so it's more likely that the VIA drivers are simply screwy.

Forgot to mention -- VIA's graphics hardware generally doesn't work very well. It's basic at best and really they're built for business applications rather than gaming. Their motherboard chipsets are relatively decent though which makes it odd that pretty much all of their other hardware sucks (e.g., CPU's, Video Chips, Sound Chips)

Sorry to interrupt, but I have a question about your graphics. Does this game play off your pc's graphics card, or does it work via the internet graphics, such as Java and OpenGL? Pilot

Pheonix - ROBLOX is pure OpenGL. Most of our graphics issues relate to the fact that each vendor (ATI, NVIdia, etc) implements their own version of OpenGL. We've found ATI, NVidia and Intel Extreme to be pretty good. Builderman

When i play on roblox, any game, level, etc., the graphics just get wacked up. Some things dissapear & come back. some times, there are "Graphic strips" where graphics get cut up, & it does some other obscure things. is it a graphic chip problem, connection problem, or anything else? please reply.
