Table of Contents: I. Introducing… II. Let’s Get See-Through! - Privacy Bricks - Invisible Space III. My Ivory Tower IV. Prototype[s] V. Concluding… I. Introducing… ========== [This may be skipped] Welcome and welcome all to the third rendition (fourth, if we’re being pedantic) of my refreshing series of invisibility ideas! Your criticisms in the previous thread were taken under advisement and incorporated in this new thread to the best of my abilities. One can never be perfect however I feel this thread is much stronger than the previous now that I’ve been able to see how you all react[ed]. No one was a catastrophic help individually so my only honourable mention remains VidaFrezz. While there aren’t eighth or near eighth versions of this thread, it is version 1.8. It should be noted that the thread’s version number increases based on the severity of the improvement, not by the number of versions existing. This is how I operate ;) For those of you interested, the previous version is the link below: http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=77440185 I’ve bored you with formalities for too long now! I would’ve left out a delicious snack, like my crepes or cupcakes, but seeing as you guys have been so scarce, you’re just not getting anything >:U Welcome folks! This is invisibility like you’ve never seen it before! II. Let’s Get See-Through! ================= Quick foreword. In my head, I said “Extreme explicit-ness” to avert the confusion that arose in the previous thread. So without further ado, gentlemen and gentlewomen, my ideas: 1. Privacy Bricks (Also known as “One-Way Visibility”) Now, privacy bricks? What on earth is this substance my mind conjured up? Well, think real world. What do you identify as privacy glass/privacy windows? Glass that lets you see outside but DOES NOT let people see inside. Intriguing, no? Time for a ROBLOX equivalent. Not before we add some explicit-sauce. To make sure you understand the concept of privacy bricks. I am on one side of a privacy brick wall. I can see straight through the wall and see my friend on the opposite side. However, all my friend can see is a regular old brick. No idea anyone is on the other side. Got the idea? Good. Onto the accessibility. Any old brick can become a privacy brick (hooray for equal rights!). Click on a brick (in Studio, presumably) and down where you see all those properties of a brick like its colour or its velocity, there will be another tab there reading “Brick privacy”. There will 3 options: Brick Privacy V Left to right [ ] Top to bottom [ ] Front to back [ ] Left to right is along the x axis, top to bottom is along the y axis and front to back is along the z axis. But that’s a superfluous detail! You can select one of these boxes and these boxes will dictate the way the privacy works. So if you have a flat brick and you want the flat top & bottom to be under the influence of privacy, click top to bottom. And there you have it; how easy is that? Okay, hang onto your hats, it’s time to get complex and get explicit with Invisible Space! Here goes: -=- 2. Invisible Space I don’t feel people really grasped this idea but lay your worries to bed, I’ve got ya covered. I’m dispelling all ambiguity in this rendition! As you may find, Invisible Space is very much a branch off of privacy bricks, so the two will have similar uses! What happens with invisible space? Let’s give you an example. I make a box glass house. 4 walls, a roof and a floor. All made from regular transparent bricks. I insert Invisible Space into this glass house. Now me and my friend are outside this transparent house (that has invisible space inside). I decide to go check it out while my friend waits. I walk into the house (pretend I know where the door is) and I am now inside this glass house. The moment I enter the house, I BECOME TRANSPARENT AS WELL!!! GASP. My friend cannot see me anymore! That’s because I entered invisible space! Don’t worry, more explicit-ness to come! What happens with invisible space is that anything, be it man or mouse, becomes transparent to anyone outside the invisible space. (That’s a much better explanation, right?) Another example: I have my same glass house with invisible space inside it. I’m in build mode this time. I put a grappling hook in the glass house. And the grappling hook is now invisible to me. Because anything that enters invisible space becomes invisible! :3 A couple of things I should mention about invisible space: ~ Invisible Space cannot be used if your walls are not partially transparent. You can still employ invisible space; you just won’t see the effects. ~ The transparency veil that Invisible Space will provide can be altered just like regular transparency. ~ It’s Invisible SPACE, so for Invisible Place to be inserted, keep in mind you need an area. ~ Once you are inside Invisible Space, you can see everything inside Invisible Space. (Meaning, once my friend enters the glass house with me, he can see me again and everything inside the house) We move on! Where and how to access Invisible Space? Well. Before anything, we need some Invisible Space ground-rules. For Invisible Space to be insert-able, ROBLOX must recognize a space. How will ROBLOX define a space? A space will be defined as an area in between bricks, enclosed without an opening. Too complex? Basically, like in paint, if you draw a circle and go to fill it with paint, it will fill the whole the page with paint unless your circle is completely enclosed with 0 holes. All you need to do is make a prism that’s totally enclosed and Invisible Space may be inserted. All you is group your prism and go up into Insert and then Object (in Studio, of course). Invisible Space will be one of the options. I hope vagueness is a thing of the past as far as Invisible Space is concerned! III. My Ivory Tower ============= [This may be skipped UNLESS you have a query] Modestly named, My Ivory Tower, in this chapter I address a few issues or concerns that arose. These ideas are all about convenience. I am all about convenience. While privacy bricks are creatable, this idea makes everything a whole lot more convenient. Currently, a simple privacy box would require you to decal 30 brick faces! Not to mention having to sift through dozens of decals to find an appropriate one (no one wants a box covered with flowers in a spy game) or go through the trouble to make a decal, or just plain and simple you want a privacy brick that looks like a regular ol’ brick. Now let’s top it off with the fact that a lot of people probably don’t know this is possible. What’s the harm in making everyone’s life easier? :3 -=- Also, I feel these ideas will bring wondrous and vibrant new dimensions to game-play! Keep in mind, they would mostly enhance current systems/feature but who knows, someone may (frozengaia, for example) take these ideas and do something totally unique. For example, some of Privacy Glass & Invisible Spaces uses will follow: - Viewing Arenas - Apocalypse bunkers - Secret levels, places, bases or rooms - Enhanced VIP rooms - "AFK" hot-spots. - Illusions or mazes - Obbys -=- IV. Prototype[s] ========== 3. Super Invisible Space Super Invisible Space was just an after thought. If it flops, blame the weather. But your thoughts and critiques are greatly appreciated. I won’t go into super detail mainly because this is just Invisible Space with a twist but also because I don’t know how you will react but I’m gonna toss it out there because I have nothing to lose: Super Invisible Space. It’s like invisible space except those inside the space, can’t see anything as well. Could be used to make interesting obbys. Alongside Super Invisible Space, bricks immune to Super Invisible Space could be introduced. Tell me how you feel ‘bout that :P V. Concluding… ========== Time for some sour notes: If you didn’t read, please do not post. It’s that simple, keep in mind that “tl;dr” is considered spam by ROBLOX. Supports are always welcomed but No Supports need reasons I am afraid, so says MasterChiefAlpha “Scriptable” is not a valid response people, sorry to report. Ending off with some sweet notes: If you did not understand or you disagree, I URGE you to check back at this thread every now and then. I answer all queries and retaliate against all arguments, so come back now pl0x It’s all the critiques, even the Supports, that propel this idea forward :3 Well, I delivered what I promised, no? I don’t think you’ve ever seen invisibility like that! !Dream Crusher Strikes Again:3

I support, But you can simply make a privacy brick using a decal. I do see what you mean by it, I would believe that would make it much simpler.

Uh-oh... 0_________________0 I think I have been grossly misinformed on how to create a privacy brick... CURSE YOU LEGOLAS!!!!! !Dream Crusher Strikes Again:3

I think you need to stay within the Physics zone. Bricks you can walk through is already far enough.

The whole Invisible space concept is silly. If you want to do this learn to script then use Local Scripts. A privacy box? Yes you can script that too. The whole point of the scripting feature on ROBLOX is to create things like you suggested. If this was all possible there would be no need for scripting, and the majority of programmers who enjoy ROBLOX due to the fact that it has the benefit of being a 3D scripting program, will leave and move on.

I support but the invisible space is really silly.

Invisible space is too SPECIFIC, it's too limiting. Only .001% of users actually have a need for it. You can write up a script that loops through nearby objects and changes their transparency rather easily anyways, ROBLOX is not going to make an official feature for such a unnecessary and overly specific feature.

"Let’s Get See-Through!" Again, you can already use Decals for this, it's easy enough to just find or make your own Decal to suit to your like-ings. _______ "Invisible Space" How would it know when something inside this box? They're just bricks put together in a box, it wouldn't know what entered this "box". >>" A space will be defined as an area in between bricks, enclosed without an opening. Too complex?"<<< Yes, it's too complex. I don't really see how this would be made without any difficulties and variety of different bugs and glitches. _______ "While privacy bricks are creatable, this idea makes everything a whole lot more convenient." Well, then, I see the Decal method as convenient enough, You see this Privacy Brick as much more convenient.... "It’s like invisible space except those inside the space, can’t see anything as well." So, how exactly would this work?

"Only .001% of users actually have a need for it." Please, tell me where you're getting these statistics. "You can write up a script that loops through nearby objects and changes their transparency rather easily anyways," Yes, but this suggestion would make things easier. "ROBLOX is not going to make an official feature for such a unnecessary and overly specific feature." Well, ROBLOX never guaranteed they're not going to make this, right? Right, so don't come here saying what ROBLOX will do or not do.

Way too specific. There's a reason we can script things. This would be worth neither the API and engine bloat it would bring, nor the development effort it would require.

This is a super old post, but is this the method that SONICTHEHEDGEHOGXX uses in his game Sunset City? I would really like to know the method that he uses where the houses are cloned an infinite amount of times. People inside see outside whereas people outside don't see in they see a fake building. Please help!
