@Hathelper
Are you using BodyVelocity or CFrame? Because CFrame is more effective. |

BodyGyro/BodyVelocity.
Cannot use CFrame. It doesn't calculate physics.

btw, did you read the mail that i've sent you. i believe it had some good ideas in it. just make the minute men 3$ instead of 5 to add strategy to it, like cheap vs. steep. |

@ HatHelper: In the RTS games I play, surrender/retreat is a basic part of the game. If a player is beaten, he shouldn't have to wait around 10-15 minutes for the inevitable. I think you should re-consider the surrender feature. In general, your game runs too slow (main reason I don't play it). Surrender would be one thing that could speed the game up. |

A midevil RTS is not a good idea. Oh and, uh, btw ........ HatHelper ..... What do you mean there is not an RTS with a surrender!!! I play one called Zero-k all the time. I begin to think more and more that you don't know how to make a good RTS. The surrender really isn't necessary though; you can just sell all of your units. Something that hasn't been mentioned here that really needs to be addressed is unit classes. Basically: anti-tank infantry, anti-plane infantry, and anti-infantry infantry. Instead of Heavy Solider and Light Solider. I really see no reason why this shouldn't be added. Considering "Conquerors" is a six-person game, the unit cap probably needs to stay. |

I never said no RTS exists with surrender. Learn to read.

I know one of the reasons why hathelper wouldn't add that. One of them were about 'boosting'. Boosting (in Conquerers) is where a player tell other players on server to press the surrender button. Which will allow the booster to earn more wins every round. Secondly, the part where Guests and Users clicks the surrender button randomly and exits the server. Sometimes when a player didn't make any progress and random noobs begin to press the surrender button it will mostly end the fun. So please don't add surrender. |

the above post hasn't read the entire forum. Don't add the surrender. You can just sell all of your stuff. |

I suppose all talk on this forum has moved to the Conquerors suggestion forum |
|
|
as of yet this thread appears to have been more productive. as of yet all the conquers suggestion thread has asked for was submarines, jet-pack people, scube-diver people, increased animatics, napalm, hydrogen bombs, floating fortresses, fog of war, better terrain and maps and that's about it. |

I think Hathelper just want everyone to play the conquerers with there computers/laptops/netbooks. My netbook is laggy and it ain't that laggy inside the game. |

First of all I'm surprised this post came back to life, and Second I haven't played the game lately, but typically I had lag when I played.
I've been trying to make my own RTS for a while and always run into the same problem. The builder bots have a bug that I can't explain or fix. It gives an error and I put in the line of code to prevent it, but it didn't even seem to change it! I gives the exact same error when the fix is in it! Incase you're wondering what the bug actually is, it's a directory bug. It claims something isn't there when it is. If you've done any kind of coding you'd know what I'm talking about.
If I did not do the builder bot and rig the game more like Conquerors then I would probably be in beta testing stage by now. Beside the point, darthvader, you seem to be the only person on roblox who knows anything about strategy. Basically, when I got the game going people would ask me to make it easier and probably more like Conquerors. I don't see much point in finishing the game for this reason.
I am really copying a game called Zero-k any way. Basically, Zero-k on roblox :P. The way I see it, I want people on roblox to enjoy Zero-k as much as I do, but I don't think that's gonna happen. I'm better off just playing Zero-k and forgetting about roblox. If robloxians wanted a scientific RTS it would already exist. Most of my friends played roblox, but when I told them about Zero-k roblox got a priority bump down. |

hmm.... maybe make a game that is like a combination of simcity and the conquers. make it similar to conquers in the way that it is played but not how it is played if you get my gist. make it complicated but not requiring too much brain power to learn. building and fighting sounds funner than just fighting. |
|
|
Hard-core is primarily based on building. That's why I wanted the BB(builder bot) so much. You pose a challenge that interests me though. What if I made a simple RTS instead of a game that takes, no kidding, 3 - 6 months to learn how to play well. But how to combine hard-core and simple? Before I ask for ideas let me outline the game:
>robots not tanks
>two econs
>unit classes
>well developed, preferably banking planes
Now with those guidelines established what are some ideas to combine simple with complex? |
|
|
think of a combination of simcity, grepolis and the conquers. make it low on detail but high in numbers. dont care about time just get it done a peace at at ime |
|
|
the unit classes are already one step away from the conquers. maybe snipers, machine-gunners, assault troops, para-troopers, infantry, cavalry, artillery, seal teams, special forces, marines, and coast guard.
to further take a step away from the conquers make it so the ships, tanks and artillery will have to be manned in order to function (preferably with one soldier per building.)
btw you honestly need to make a new thread for this. |

Sorry but I'm a bit frustrated. Unless you're talking in general terms, I said BOTS not TANKS(this means sci-fi not modern military, and robot sci-fi not alien.). I major step away from Conquerors is that my game isn't even modeled on it. The way I have the game right now, it's designed for competitive players. I'm asking how to tone it down. To tell you the truth I might not have to. The game is 1v1. This means that me and you could play it and I would be perfectly satisfied. I don't really want popularity I just want roblox's first, Hard-core RTS. I have came up with a fix to the supposed impossi-bug. It wouldn't make much sense if I told you what it is, but I have high hopes for it.
I don't exactly know what those other RTS games you listed are, but I'm sure you have more of a vision for something like Halo Wars rather then Zero-k. I don't really want to work on a game though. My bro started a game called Galactic Domination about.... oh.... 2 - 3 years ago and it still isn't done :P. The way I see it, I can develop a game that can actually make money(since I have the skills and resources now) or I can continue to play Zero-k. Roblox is just not rewarding enof for me to get sucked into making a 2 year game. It's too much time and not enof reward. I've seen what's happened with my bro and I don't want that to happen to me. I might make it sound evil, but it really isn't. It's just not stepping away from the learning stage and entering the prosperity stage. You might say, "I'm just making the game for fun." Who is to say that making a real game isn't fun? :) The Spring engine allows you to make RTS games with just a knowledge of a 3D modeler and some extremely basic code(easier then roblox). If the game is original and people want it badly enof then you can sell it. The selling part is a bit advanced for a kid, but you can develop the game now and sell it later. |

I dont see much problem with the games. I just think there should be a way for buildings to not be destroyed by noobs in the first 10 minutes. Deliver mony faster.Speed it up.and im going to look at Zero-k

The only problem I see in some of your points involving bullet dodging would be that attacks and dodging the bullets would have to be completely re-scripted to be done on a dice roll.
