I love both bands, but Nirvana hands down. Actually, I don't think I would have even found out about Linkin Park had it not been for Nirvana. Hmm, there should be a thread about Kurt's death, I'd like to see what people have to say. R.I.P. Kurt

Thats hard. I like Linkin Park because well, its awesome. I like Nirvana for the simplness of the song which made the early 90's music good. So Nirvana hands down for meh.

I respect everyone's opainian. But don't say "Nirvana cuzz linkin prk suxsss" because if they suxsss they wouldn't have fans. You can not like it, just make sure you have a strait face when typing. Back to topic. It's close, but it's hard to compare different genres.... Because the lyrics and sound are meant to be different. I say Linkin Park because im more intact with punk. I still have respect for Nirvana, it's just I like punk more then rock.... Linkin Park.

To; Scarsonbrodway You say that Nirvana made the 90's the bomb, but so did many other bands. Nirvana is one of the most notable, but Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and so many other great bands contributed to the uprising grunge movement of the 90's also.

I think Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and the Foo Fighters made the 90's da bomb.

Yeah. Its kinda good in a sense, though. Of course its terrible that he died and their not together any more, but its good because they didn't try to replace him. He is simply Ireplacable, and if they put someone in his place, I probably would'nt want to listen, knowing their not living up to their full potential without Cobain.

Nirvana = Foo Fighters. Nirvana took Rock music and wrecked it. Linkin Park took Rock/pop, fused them together and created a monster.

Gordonrox24, I can somewhat agree with you on Linkin Park, but If you have something against Nirvana, then I have something against you.

I like Nirvana, I just don't like what they did to music. They changed the course of maintstream music and I'm not sure if it was in a good way. Before Nirvana we had ACDC, LedZeppelin, Black Sabbath, Cream, all these great bands. Since Nirvana we have had good bands, but nothing like what we used to have. I am a musician. I can play almost any instrument you give me. I am a tone fanatic. If your instrument doesn't have good tone then I am not happy. Nirvana didn't like tone, they were interested in loud noise(Which is Also good). That is just what I think.

Hm... I respect your statement. But if by modern music you mean hip hop, I can agree. But I don't see how even Nirvana could evolve into hip hop in only 10-15 years. And besides, if you mean overuse of distortion and screaming punk evolving into some of the modern wanna-be metal bands, then technically, Metallica did that in the same time period as the other great bands (70's-80's). But Metallica is great. I don't like screamo metal, or anything too over the top, but Metallica is just great music. I don't think just Nirvana made music what it is today (that being a bad thing)

I woud still consider Metallica Classic rock. They had a sound simmilar to that of many bands in that time period. Nirvana was something totally new. They changed music, for good and bad.

Hm. Well listen to the "Master of Puppets" and "Kill 'em all" Metallica albums and then tell me that Metallica is classic Rock.
