So, I've been noticing... While I build... Well, this may only import to me, but The bricks don't GO together.
What I mean is, Ok say, I put down... uh... A transparent brick, its going to be one of my doors. Alright, I set a brick on top. Mm... There is a line inbetween, ok ok whatever.
Now Say I'm making a base. So, I kind of want the ground to be checkerboard themed for NO apparent reason.
Ok, I lay it out.
Now, I'm standing at the front and you see every little line weaving through your colored bricks. I walk around, the lines wave in my eyes. It's annoying. I want it all to... Blend.
You get where I'm trying to get at?
It could be... like... A Property.
So, you could highlight all the bricks you want to blend, and click the Blend button or something, I dont know...
This may only bug me, but :/ Doesn't hurt to ask and MAYBE it bugs someone else! |

So, I'm not the only one who's eyes hurt when running along a checkerboard and gets annoyed?
YAY! *Hops up and down* I thought I was alone and going to get shot down! |

This would be a very nice addition, but it isn't needed.
Simple CFrame the parts closer together, and then raise one of them .005 studs up past the other to nullify the flicker. |

Yeah, it's pretty annoying. |
|
|
I would use CFrame the problem, but I would have to exit studio mode and whip out my CFrame tool. Frustrating, though. |

You don't have to use a CFrame Tool to use CFrame.
You could CFrame with the Command Bar, or you could use CMDUtl (Google it). |

I would, but sounds kinda hard. I would use the command bar, aswell, but don't you think thats a little bit to much work for a simple Checkerboard?
Well, it may be unnecessary, but it can help. As I said, it could just be an optional feature for those who get annoyed. Or, for the moments your just want it to blend... |

yeah blocks randomly switch form factors from brick, to plate, and to custom in roblox studio 2.0. |

Are you talking about the bevels? If so, you can insert a BrickMesh into it, and it will remove the bevel. Alternatively, you can turn bevels off completely from Tools -> Settings -> Rendering, but that might have some unintended consequences in places where beveling was intended.

Umm, no offense, but what exactly are bevels? |
|
cobalt10Join Date: 2008-07-21 Post Count: 7371 |
Bevels are the rounded corners you see on things, be it the back of your phone, the side of your table, or in this case the edges of ROBLOX's bricks.
Inserting a BrickMesh into the Block will change it from having the rounded-off side to having a sharp, right-angle edge. This would allow you to place bricks side by side without the "wavy" pattern between them. It'll simply look like one, multi-coloured piece. You have to do this to ever brick you want to disable the bevels for, and it will show for everyone who visits the game.
Alternatively, you can go to ROBLOX Studio -> Tools -> Settings -> Rendering. In there, there should be an option to turn bevels off. This will disable bevels for every brick, so you will only see sharp edges instead of rounded ones. However, this disables it for *every* brick and *only* for you. If you were to join a game where bevels were intended, it may look weird. In addition, people visiting your place will see bevels in bricks where there is no BrickMesh, even though you won't see the bevel.
It's up to you which method you want to use. Hopefully this fixes your problem.

Well all I have to say is this to the roblox team: " If it's not broken, don't fix it!" - The Engineer. By the way, Cobalt's outfit is beast! |

The meshes sound like a good diea, but wouldn't it create lag when extreme amounts are used? |
|
|
BloxcianJoin Date: 2012-10-06 Post Count: 118 |
You gotta point there! |
|
cobalt10Join Date: 2008-07-21 Post Count: 7371 |
No. Lag is dependant on the amount of vertices that are on the mesh. A BrickMesh actually has less vertices than the standard bevel, and therefore would actually reduce lag, but only minimally.
