If people think that they are being exploited, then they can quit, nothing is stopping them. Or they can just be happy that someone is willing to employ them instead of acting as if little-skill labor is something to support a large family.

"@DX If your logic worked then everyone would be working minimum wage, from lawyer to kiosk worker. But since your logic doesn't apply since business's benefit from having workers and others being able to afford their items. And that people know their labor is worth more than some other types of labor. But hey, if you want to stand up for the people who can't value their own labor, how about you try telling them to stop working for 2 cents in China. That is assuming their labor is worth more." you are stup1d, i never said anything like that i was talking about poor factory workers and suddenly you are going on about lawyers making minimum wage or something thats stupid

@Jimmie No one is holding a gun to their head to take the job. Employers do't have to employ them anyways.

But having a minimum wage only raises up production prices, limits how many people can be employed for their labor, a minimum wage is imaginary because labor isn't worth any more afterwards. --- How does it suddenly lolraise the prices? There are some countries with no minimal wage and most of them have got relatively same prices, in case of countries that don't the prices are cheaper because of low to none regulations and the ability for companies to add crap into their products to make them cheaper.

a minimum wage ensures no one is exploited through ignorance in labour.

@Dx It applies to everyone, you're saying that the employees are forced to work for less than what their labor is worth less they starve. And I'm saying that if that was the case then everyone would be working at minimum wage because employers would simply not give them the job unless they work at the lowest possible. But then I say that it doesn't work that way because employers benefit from having more employees and having them be able to buy their products.

@MeGusta The price to have goods produced goes up since you are paying more, so prices go up to make up for it. Pretty simple economics.

Pretty simple economics. --- Well your "pretty simple economics" don't work in praxe. The only country I can think of without minimum wages that has cheap stuff is china, every other country that hasn't got a minimum wage forth has same prices, or more expensive prices.

@DX what? Wait so you think that people should just quit if they think their labor isn't valued enough, ok great, thank you for joining my side.

But these countries don't even have any regulations to their products, proving my theory.

Prices are dictated by the workers, if the mass of workers feel that their labor is worth this much, then the company has to sell it's good at a price that makes up for the price of labor. You know, for surplus. So when the government goes in and says you have to have people work for atleast this much, then you either make employers employ less unskilled workers, or punch up the price a little to make up for the production costs.

@MeGusta the products are regulated to standards deemed safe to sell, that's why the stuff in walmart you see is "made in china" or "made in Taiwan" or " made in Singapore" etc. etc. It has to be regulated when being transported oversees.

@Mango So what you're saying is that the government should make sure that every company that employs someone has to make sure that they pay their unskilled employees enough for them to support them and their families with whatever small jobs? Don't you listen? The government forcing employers to pay more only makes prices rise to make up for the price of production. It's like some idiot says the minimum wage should be 20 dollars an hour, but it would only make McDonald happy meals worth 30 dollars.

@megusta So by regulated you mean they must be of highest quality???? The products are made cheaply and sold cheaply, you pay for what you get.

@XC you don't have to buy those items. But since they are high demand despite the prices, they make a good surplus, good for them.

"you don't have to buy those items" I never claimed you did; however, it just goes to show that companies cannot be trusted to price their products 'fairly'.
