Like dirt. If somebody in their game put a dirt particle on a brick, dirt would fly up.
I know you can script it, but what about all the other people who can't script? After all, ROBLOX is a kids game.
So some examples of particles include:
-Dirt
-Grass
-Water
- Dynamic lighting (a more complex version than the billboard gui. {IT CASTS SHADOWS})
-Flying debris |

I support. But-
I would really love to see custom-particle effects, using some kind of property settings, and user-created decals. I think it would be really nice to be able to create your own particle effects. |

@Glicon
Good idea. Perhaps give a variation, such as the color, particle size, partile material, etc. |

Well, maybe there could be a function in which you could take particles off.
Not dynamic lighting though :P |

Sorry I had to... but bump... |

Would be very cool ^_^ |

...I'll be expecting a larger RAM size soon. This one is becoming tediously debilitated. |

Hmm, yeah. Particle effects may cause lag.. |
|
|
|
Oh yes... Because particles and dynamic lights are TOTALLY related(!)
Particles wouldnt lag too much, although I cannot say the same for dynamic lights |
|
|
|
May cause lag, but if they get rid of some of the unecessary crap they added, then support. |

I'd prefer to keep them scriptable rather than just another brick property.
If we make it so that people can just click a checkbox and make water splash, then it becomes too generic of an effect. Somthing that people can't change.
However, if it's scriptable, it's more dynamic.
Say I make a script that makes mud splash when you walk through it.
I post it in the free models.
Some people use it, but one person decides to improve it.
This person makes it so that the mud not only splashes, but slops onto other blocks.
Another person makes it so that the mud sticks to the player's feet.
And another makes it so muddy feet leave footprints.
Custom particle effects generated by scripts can be endlessly altered to do more than it was originally designed. |
