By 2016, an entire US naval fleet will run on algae based fuels. The DoD says it is completely confident that all military vehicles will run on alternate fuels within 20-30 years. In addition, the army is also switching fuels on their vehicles. Also, one of the biggest expected innovations of he 21st century in America is hopefully going to be the planned solar roads. They will power nearby communities and cars that drive over them. They will replace expensive concrete roads.

Ya. Pollution in cities is causing health problems and increased cases of lung disease.

Yeah, I agree. I just don't want a military that malfunctions because there isn't enough light.

I hope the fossil fuel industry disappears this century.

Rubies, Ships can run on solar power without actually having sunlight. It is one of the battery storage methods that was just recently invented in Florida or Texas or something.

Canada is almost as good as Kentucky master state. ------------------------- i can't wait for oil value to go down globally and watch canada's economy cash and burn then ask to be annexed by the US

But think about it, there is no logical reason for the oil industry to exist other than profits for big oil. We literally don't need it, the technology is there to run a completely oil free society. Personally I can't wait for the price of renewable vehicles to be low enough that is the preferable alternative to petroleum vehicles, rendering them obsolete.

@Ryplayer Well, Oil is still big in NASA's rockets from what I've seen...
Sasook

@Ry, It's because of oil CEOs lobbying conservatives to vote against any advertisement or funding or subsidies for alternate fuel sources. But now that they're receiving funding from the Obama Administration as well as private companies, they are making significant progress.

Well, Oil is still big in NASA's rockets from what I've seen... ------------------------ NASA uses hydrogen to power their rockets.

NASA are already investing massive amounts of research into using liquid hydrogen as a fuel for space exploration. Its already used in individual rocket stages and was used in a propellant combination in the space shuttle.

I wonder how many billions of dollars this is going to cost the taxpayers? ------------------------------- Military thing will cost nothing. The road thing will most likely come from defense spending cuts.

Pepper, why do you constantly go on about tax? A small 50c increase in tax isn't going to bankrupt you and remove you from your upper-middle class lifestyle, get a grip.

Ya, they both seem very concerned with their upper middle-class income being taken by the big oppressive government.
