both great britian and ireland are geographical terms rather than political
when people say they are irish they are refering to the republic of ireland which is a seperate country from the united kingdom

way back in time the british empire spanned a fourth of the world and governed over 1/4 of the people
some country, such as america, broke out of this empire voilently through bloodshed (battles) for their own government
countrys such as canada and austrilla broke out of the empire through diplomacy (kinda like a trade).
in return for their own parliment, these countrys would have to recognize the british monarchy as head of state, which is why they got queen on their money
canada, austrilla, new zeland, barbados and ect.. are all apart of the crown (the ruling monarchy)
these countrys are otherwise known as the commonwealth realm, and there are alot of them (15)
