The war started a few years ago, when Chernova invaded us. It hasn't stopped. Within months our economy crashed. And all of our major cities were destroyed. A few hours after take-off, we were within 10 miles of Eucadia. "All right," the pilot yelled over the roar of the engines, "We're gonna drop you off behind friendly lines so you can advance with everyone else. ETA three minutes!"

All was quiet. I looked out of my porthole and saw a bright flash from the mountain side. Missiles! I looked again and a cloud of chaff surrounded us. The missile veered off and hit the water.

"One minute!" Another flash. I waited for the cloud of chaff, but it didn't come. The pilot rolled over and turned a hard right . The missile shot past us. I though we were clear until it exploded. Our entire left side had been reduced to shreds of metal! We lost our lift and started twisting towards the hard, unforgiving ground.

I don't remember most of the fall, but I remember hitting the ground. Very hard. We landed in a far, valley base. I unbuckled my safety belt, and fell towards the ground. I looked around. Judging by the base security, this was our makeshift field HQ.

When I reached the base, I entered a briefing room. They told us two people were going to take a jeep and try to take new territory. They showed us to the jeep and told everyone else to distract the enemies. Right before they went away, a Nemisis-class plane launched a TOW missile towards us and killed the gunner.
