You should check out the Stooges is you don't already know them. They're the greatest rock band of all time, I think, and one of the most important punk bands.
Iggy Pop is the greatest punk singer ever.

Big Black (Apparently the best punk bands all start with B's)
Joy Division (amazingly depressing, though)
Public Image Ltd. (Johnny Rotten's band from after the saex pistols. Really fantastic)

Circle Jerks (Their best album is 15 songs in 15 minutes. It's awesome)
