Its really challenging to do, dude. Its a really neat maneuver that consists of lots of practice to get it right. It has the illusion that Micheal was *almost* hovering, or sliding across the floor.

People moonwalk because it looks awesome and gives out a very good fake backwards walk illusion. :P Also because Michael Jackson invented it and he's popular all over the world!

I bet the people whom say they can moonwalk really can't. But that's just my opinion; seeing as how there are a myriad of places that "teach" you how to moonwalk, and it's executed so poorly. You're supposed to transfer your weight and balance from foot to foot each time you move, and you have to do it smoothly.
