I'm not sure if this forum is the right place to put this, but it seemed like the best fit for this kind of proposal. I am thinking of a game that's somewhat similar to that of World of Tanks, except with that of 17th-19th century warships. The style for this game will be heavily influenced off of NearmissTFW's Wingz World IV and V - All of the ships are miniaturized, as well as any crew that might be on board as to ensure that slower computers can render this game. Each player controls a single vessel, and commands it to the best of his ability on a team pitted against another. He controls where it moves, when the broadsides fire, how the sails work, and the like. The objective is simple - sink the enemy team before yours is. Ships will vary widely. Galleons, sloops, man o' wars and the like are all going to be made as historically accurate as ROBLOX allows and will be available to everyone at the start of the game. No unlocks are necessary, except for purely aesthetic or cosmetic add-ons as someone gains in-game currency as they play (As well as game passes for 'skins' to some ships (Ex, a purchaseable USS Constitution that has no difference in the standard American frigate)). Teams will be either made in colour-coded generic rag-tag fleets, OR people will be restricted to faction-specific ships for their team each round (British, French, etc). I'm not too sure on this front yet. Maps will vary from open-sea areas to that of peninsulas, beaches, etc in order to spice of gameplay and add some tactics (For example, a sloop may be able to sneak around a rock and ambush hapless ships from their stern before popping back into safe waters). Much will depend on things like wind and weather. Weather is randomized to be either clear, storming, etc. We may add waves if we want but that's unlikely. Wind will also be randomized every few seconds as to give another layer of thinking involved in making maneuvers (Those sailing in the wind's favour will go faster, those going against will move slower or not at all). Strategy and teamwork is going to be paramount. We may go so far as to restrict people to use certain classes of ships per round to make sure people aren't all using dreadnoughts (5 people on sloops, 4 on frigates, etc). This will be no problem, since all ship classes will be available to people at the start. Each class will have its own advantages in combat, though none will succeed by just rushing at the enemy. Boarding parties may be added, I'm still thinking on how those would work in an online scenario. This seems like a big convoluted jot-down of ideas, and it is. I'm drawing a lot of inspiration from movies like Master and Commander and games like Pirates of the Burning Sea - if you think this is a decent idea that's worth a shot, send a reply and I might get some people to help me make this a reality.
