Well, if you think about it, if you change your username, you actually are leaving that certain avatar. You could delete all of your current friends and start over without anyone realizing it. (Unless they know your account code, which is very rare.) I honestly think it isn't smart to change your username without starting over the date. This is my opinion, but I really do support the idea of changing your username anytime you like, just you having to start over on the date. :)
