Solution: Use the MarketPlaceService, use the Description of a model, run code off that. INFINITE CHARACTER LIMIT. CONGRATS.

One flaw @above, what if you dont want others getting the script/your testing and dont plan to release just yet, people can copy it from the desc...

@montano Perhaps remove it from your inventory and save the url?

Its not very practical, and can all be avoided if they would just raise the character limit/leave it be.

1000 characters is a lot. Chat bar is for chatting. ~Sorcus

Chat bar is for large text input. If we can't have large text input in the chat bar then make something where we can. Until then, leave the chat bar alone.

agreed, I don't care if the chat bar limit is lowered, so long as there is some other method of input. Unless we can think of a h4xy way to do this.

local assets = {} local code = "" for i = 1,#assets do local info = game:GetService("MarketplaceService"):GetProductInfo(assets[i]) local code = code..DescriptOfAsset -- To lasy to work it out. end loadstring(code)() Now just paste your script across a few assets? Really not that difficult.

I am sorry but chat bar is not for large text input. Also woot3, their problem seems to stem from the fact that they don't want their code to be accessible to others and they don't want to go through the hassle of burning it in a level or model or anything of that sort. Still doesn't matter. Even if script builders are helpful I don't see a case for a large script just pasted into the chat bar. So yeah, no. ~Sorcus

sounds rather inconvenient , one asset for about every 30 ish lines of code, then splitting the code, and editing all the assests descriptions every time you make an edit just isn't practical :|

Fair point. Did you ever consider allowing text to be copied from textbox's out of curiousity?

Also it seems like a good idea to have a character limit on item descriptions as well. Makes sense to me. ~Sorcus

'Even if script builders are helpful I don't see a case for a large script just pasted into the chat bar' Translates to: "I get your point but I'm going to dismiss your argument."

"they don't want their code to be accessible to others" right "and they don't want to go through the hassle of burning it in a level or model" and how is that a solution?

Is there a true point to changing the character limit? If there is, would you please enlighten me with the details? Other than comformity, I honestly can't think of a single reasoning about how character a larger character limit would affect anything negatively. One thousand characters are not even visable in the chat, so if you are shortening it because "The chat bar is for chatting", why are you not shortening it more so? If the reasoning behind keeping it that long is to ensure people don't complain, why change it at all? By doing this you are limiting the community who enjoys this sort of thing for little to no reasoning. I don't exactly understand.

I guess shortening it more might be more intuitive. The default has been 1000 characters for textboxes always so it was left that way. ~Sorcus

According to your logic Sorocus you Allow Custom Lengths for TextBoxes so we can make a 'Scripting Bar' so that we may script in a game designed for scripting…

Removing features is _ONLY__USEFUL_ when their removal is beneficial in general, not to the purpose of that object. For example, if the high character limit caused Roblox to lag, you would decrease it. Nothing of this kind happened, so there is no reason AT ALL to remove this functionality. Plus, your sad excuse of a new chat bar wasn't even necessary. There was no need to shorten the character limit, there was no need to redesign it and there was no need to give it randomly to people for testing. IT SHOULDN'T'VE PASSED FIRST TESTING. Bugs, limits and removals. Three things Roblox embraces, and this is a perfect demo of it. Change things nobody asked for and remove things people take for granted. Well done, Roblox, you've outdone yourself this time.

And if anything isnt ROBLOX made to express your creativity… Because, I can only script when theres others to script with me due to my ADD… So in fact you are limiting the Creativity of quite alot of people.

@Prehistoricman This is exactly what I am saying. There are zero positives to shortening the character limit. It seems more like they are trying to cause chaos than be helpful. I wouldn't blame roblox in general as you are, but I would think that they would at least try to take the communities opinion into account. There aren't a community of individuals on Roblox spouting about how excited they are that the character limit is being decreased.
