Of former BC members, and their places

So... it seems that there has been a bit of a stir in the past few days over some former Builders Club members whose formerly active places are now inactive. It has long been stated that a key benefit of BC is having multiple active places; other members can have only one active place (but unlimited inactive places). For at least the past few years, our BC information page has stated that when BC expires, “…you will lose your Builders Club membership status and all of its benefits, including your daily ROBUX stipend and the Builders Club badge. You will keep all of your data, including all shirts, pants, and other assets that you have made.” To be clear: places = assets; number of active slots for places = benefit. In other words, when your BC membership expires, you keep your places, but the benefit of having multiple active places goes away. But. As it turned out, there was a bug in the way the system was programmed; it was actually patched once, but re-emerged a bit ago and was patched again last week. And it was in fact a bug… though a bug that over time became something of an undocumented feature. For most people the system worked as designed – when their BC memberships became inactive, so did all active place slots save one. But for a few, there was a glitch – their active place slots never became inactive as intended. It’s not hard to see how some people may have been confused over this. Perhaps we weren’t as clear as we could have been, perhaps we should have simply fixed the bug long ago and provided better communication around it. (I can’t say; I wasn’t at ROBLOX then.) But we realize that this confusion has led to dismay. So here’s what we’re going to do. (And you can consider this a “real” feature.) Going forward, following the expiration of their membership, former BC members will have five active places. We agree that there are many great places and games out there from people who are no longer in Builders Club… and those places should be seen. On the other side of the equation, we also want to ensure that there is inherent value in a BC membership – and we hope that people will join BC to realize that value. This accomplishes both goals; so we think this is an appropriate solution to the situation. It will take us a couple of weeks to program this (correctly!) into the system, so please be patient. At that time, all former BC members will have five active place slots. I’ll post another notification when the increase in active places takes effect. In the meantime, I’ll keep this thread open if you have questions. Now... go build something! -- Brad (chiefjustus)

True, but I honestly don't see why they would patch it and they it would emerge recently after 5 years and the admins say it was a bug and nothing else.
